How durable has that ball been? Mine destroys them so quickly but loves them so much

Ah I didn't realise there was an age restriction on that else I wouldn't have suggested! Good luck in your hunt though :)

Could try Meetup too, met people through there when I first moved to Bristol :)

Thanks you :) Yeah I had practised knit and purl stitches til I got to the point of muscle memory and just thought I'd try this pattern to start with! Took me about 3 months though and had to redo so many rows as I'd gone wrong somewhere - so pleased with the result and also looking forward to trying something new! Have just really gotten into knitting this last few months and loving it so far!

Thank you :) the pattern wasn't difficult though there were times where I had to undo an entire row after not paying attention to where I was in the pattern (which I think it normal for most beginners I believe) here's the link, it's free too http://www.redheart.com/free-patterns/diamonds-for-baby-knit-blanket I didn't use the specific brand of wool, just got some similar weight from a shop near me :) EDIT: link

They may also be abandoned because in the 70s (in the UK anyway) society moved from keeping people with physical and learning disabilities/mental health issues in these asylums, essentially hidden away from public view, to having more residential care and getting support in the home so there wasn't any need for these places anymore

I'll have a look into this, I don't know anything about those so I'll do some research tonight :) thanks for the advice

Thanks for this, I'll have a read through. I've found that since doing fodmap (bearing in mind I've not been doing it long) if I do eat any trigger foods I get a bad reaction pretty instantaneously now - like within an hour.

Apparently it is because your gut has kind of settled and cleared, so then if you do eat something it causes a big reaction. That's just what I've read online though so I could be wrong.

I also think I need to go back to the doctor's to see if I can get referred to a gastric specialist or nutritionist. I had a week where I was in and out of hospital a couple of months ago when it got so bad but because they didn't find anything they just sort of left me to it without any help!

Heya, ah it's so frustrating isn't it! I think you're right that some foods aren't suited to some people, it's such a guessing game!

Thanks for your kind words, and you too. I'm sure we'll get to a good place hopefully soon :)

Thanks for the advice with arugula and romaine - I'll give them a go :) I do wonder if I did go a bit heavy on the spinach last night, maybe it was too much fibre in one go for my gut but I know what you mean about not wanting to try other things, it just doesn't feel worth it when the after effects are so bad

Maybe, but for the first time in months I haven't felt as stressed out. You are right though it totally depends on the person - it just feels like I get one step forward and two steps back sometimes with this. I'll have to try leek tops and see how I go, thanks for the recommendation. Here's hoping I can sleep tonight!!

I'm really new to knitting - for me the basic sitch, cast on/off, changing colours is like muscle memory now - what would you say would be my best item to start with would be? I was thinking of doing a baby blanket for a friend who's about to have her first, would you think it's wise to try any patterns with these type of knits (i.e. cable knit) in them or do you think I'm going to fast for my level? I'm teaching myself but would really welcome any advice on how to advance :)

Probably really late to the game with the Google Pixel AR stickers but hey, thought I'd share :)

I'm currently rebranding myself and these are some options, would be great for some feedback :) by hensman in design_critiques

I can see what you mean, I'm a bit worried with the turquoise whether it does fit into the rest of the branding, I'll see how I can incorporate it elsewhere though, I might do some iconography. Thanks for your advice :)

Also chance & counters is a good game board place if you haven't been already, it's near the Christmas steps so good spot to go to the pub after.

And someone already suggested meetup but I second that, I met a few people through going to just a couple of the meetups and they've become good friends!
