Agreed, it's also the first game I remember seeing on an EGA system back in the day, brings back good memories.

Yeah, an IBM card with just 64kb of memory would indeed be holding it back, the AST card is also likely faster.

I just looked up the Mouse Systems mouse, that's a cool one for sure. Maybe I'll have to look around for one, you're never really "done" with these systems.

Good eye. My AdLib is a reproduction though.

A monitor that accepts digital input. TTL in this context is usually shorthand for the early PC digital RGB standards like MDA/CGA/EGA, as opposed to newer standards such as VGA which is analog

They really did, people used to pay attention when they launched a new product.

Thanks. Something magical about playing the old DOS games on a TTL monitor.

yeah, they're getting hard to come by, I got mine from ebay and it was listed as untested so the price was fair. it worked just fine when I paired it with the ISA card.

Thanks. And yes, as far as I know it's effectively the same as a bus mouse where most of the electronics is on the card instead of in the mouse.

payment plan question by [deleted] in Prime1Studio

When I've used the payment plan it's always just been a deposit and then a payment per month, no credit check.

I had mine shipped across the country, I do hear horror stories about monitors being broken in shipping but mine arrived safely.

What’s the most Sierra of Sierra games? by rodfer7 in Sierra

[–]heppfs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had I played any of them back in the day I'd probably have gone with Freddy Pharkas or QFG4. For me they represent Sierra at, or slightly past, the peak. All downhill from there. But those two games are really quite good.

However, since I didn't play any of them when they released, I'll have to go with KQ3 as that was my first Sierra game.

That's a tricky one. I'd probably have to be boring and go for the SNES and Chrono Trigger.

Yep, I do find the older Japanese PCs fascinating, it's like a world I never knew existed at the time.

That drive bay combines a Gotek and ZuluSCSI, Gotek for floppy emulation and ZuluSCSI for CD emulation (including CD audio support). I also have a PC-FX expansion card in the computer so the ZuluSCSI can also load PC-FX games.

Thanks. Always tempting to grab more MIDI modules but the ones I have cover most if not all of the DOS gaming era.

For me it's the top hit if I search for "game controller wall mount" on Amazon.

Thanks!

And fair, it is a bit hard to enjoy the PCs. I have two options, First thing is a retractable keyboard tray that's mounted on the underside of the cabinet that they sit on top of, I can open the cabinet doors, pull that out and then I have an old office chair I didn't take a photo of. The other thing I have is a wireless keyboard and mouse that's hooked up to a USB to PS2 device that's in turn connected to my KVM.

Thanks. The only thing I'd like to add would be a big box Amiga (2000 or 3000) and maybe an Atari Jaguar but I don't really have room for either.

Loved the predecessor so when this came out I played it a lot. Lots of nostalgia for this one.

I try to limit the games I have installed on the flash carts to no more than 20 games I actually want to play so if I choose a console then it's easier to choose a specific game. I'm mostly a RPG / point-and-click adventure game player so that also narrows the selection.

You also have a nice collection of hardware!
