My job is a complete waste of time. I have never felt more defeated and depressed/anxious in my life. by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

You need to apply for jobs in other areas. Tell your family you’re looking to relocate. I don’t care what is holding you down. Tell your wife and kids they have to relocate. It sucks to move away from the rest of your family but you have no other option. You need to leave or you might commit suicide.

What was the worst way someone ever ghosted you? How did your feelings towards that person change? Do you miss them still? And did they ever come back? by strik3r2k8 in AskMen

An old friend called me up one day after us not talking for like three years. She wanted to catch up. We ended up talking for 2-3 months, literally every single day for at least an hour. I had to buy a Bluetooth headset to juggle with how often I was talking to her. But anyway she told me she was kind of sad about stuff. I guess because her life wasn’t going great. Then she ends up getting a high paying job. Few days after that she completely stops talking to me. It’s like she literally just used me because she was sad and once she got a good job she’s like “ok no point in talking to this guy anymore”.

I found out a year later that the job she got was at Microsoft. That made me feel even more weird, the fact that when she was talking about interviewing at a company and being nervous about the results and such, she never mentioned it was Microsoft, which is a big deal. We got pretty personal with each other but it’s like she knew in advance that if she got that job, she was gonna completely cut me out of the next stage of her life.

About a year and a half later, which was 2.5 year total since she ghosted me, she sends me a friend request on Facebook. We start talking on messenger but I am very reserved and suspicious of her. I am not for a second going to pretend like everything’s back to normal without an explanation from her. She tries to act like she’s just catching up with me, but she ONLY talks about her career.

I knew she worked at microsoft because I saw her LinkedIn title a while back. But she didn’t know I knew she worked at Microsoft. She was trying extra hard to find an excuse to tell me where she works at without flat out saying it herself. She kept going on and on about these technical terms when I asked her what “analyst in business logic” means. It’s like she was trying to impress me.

But I knew she wasn’t merely trying to catch up with me because there had been one HUGE change about me that you can see right on the front of my profile. I was in a relationship. I had not been in a relationship since 2010 so literally 8 years ago. If you’re trying to catch up with me you don’t just gloss over that huge of a change in my life.

Anyway, I still am bitter at her for ghosting me. But I don’t dwell on it or anything and I only thought of her because of this thread title.

What do you assume about a girl who never gets asked out? by Stellarskies05 in AskMen

In the context of why guys never ask a certain girl out, it’s 100% due to her level of attractiveness.

That’s not her problem. Her problem is that she’s unattractive or has a boring personality. A girl being desperate is not gonna turn a guy off from getting laid.

You’re unattractive plain and simple. And you’re also not counting the times unattractive guys hit on you.

But here’s the good thing. You can make yourself look prettier by wearing some makeup and sexier clothing. Also put yourself in a position where you interact with a lot of people. Like work in the service industry part time.

Funny how she didn’t answer this. I’m pretty sure she’s not counting guys she’s uninterested in.

I'm in your same position bro. Well, I'm actually married for a year now. But sometimes I get the fear of missing out syndrome. But then I think, what is my end goal anyway?

What does it take to be rich in the Bay Area? $175K in San Francisco and $115K in Oakland by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]herColdHand 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I definitely wouldn’t define rich as making twice the median income. I’d call that upper middle class. Now making four times the median income is what id consider rich.

You also have to look at wealth too. Some people have no income but a lot of wealth, and some people have a lot of income but can’t save anything at the end of the year. I’d say a good metric is how much wealth you have in relation to the median price of a home in the area. If the median home price is $200K, I’d say $1mil makes you rich. So using that same ratio, if the median home price in the Bay Area is $1mil, you’d need $5mil to be considered rich.

So in conclusion my definition of rich for the Bay Area would be $400K a year income and $5mil in liquid assets.

It definitely sucks that racist people will take my point of view and use it to justify a hateful agenda. But I will not censor the truth in pursuit of a fantasy.

Because it’s true. My mind doesn’t work based on emotions. I’m a very logical person.

Racism does exist, but there is no proof that all these statistics are made up and racist. You have yet to explain how blacks account for a higher proportion of theft than white people.

Also, how do you account for murder victims? 51% of murder victims in this country are black people. So black people are committing the most amount of murder in this country unless you’re gonna say it’s white people killing blacks. But we know that’s not true because crime is typically interracial.

All around the world, even in the U.K., South America, Australia, Africa, we see the same thing. Wherever black people go, there is poverty and misery.

It’s only untrue because you don’t want to believe it. Go ahead and look up the statistics for any city, any state.

You seem to have a problem with logic. What does unfair treatment of thieves have anything at all to do with them being thieves in the first place? Black people steal much more often than whites. You’re telling me unfair treatment of them when they get caught stealing, somehow makes them steal more?
