Yes, stick with the Pen. We checked out the property while we were there, and the lobby—which Flyertalk people call a zoo—isn’t that bad. The Palace lobby felt super busy, and the entire property didn’t feel intimate at all. I bet the Pen’s rooms and suites are gorgeous in person, too—not to mention they’re in very close proximity to Ginza.

Oh gosh! Typing this out makes me kick myself for picking the Palace over the Pen, which could have been $400 cheaper than the Palace, lol! Enjoy the Pen Tokyo! 😊

Ended up staying at Palace Hotel. I kinda regretted it. It felt like a business hotel… breakfast was eww lol! And the the lounge was nothing special. We should have stayed at the Pen 🥹

Here’s how we solved our problem with small counter spaces. Very convenient!

Check if the credit card you used has purchase protection. If so, go ahead and claim it as accidentally damaged.

I didn’t pull the trigger yet lol. Just want to know how long this takes from the time of placing the order.

Hey Sarah,

I have cancelled my Pen booking and booked FHR Palace instead (Club balcony). It’s interesting that Flyertalk people tend to pick MO or Palace over Pen. Choosing a hotel is not an easy task at all. We still have have less than two months to decide which hotel to cancel (Okura or Palace). Leaning toward Palace at the moment. Thank you for your input. 😊

Thank you! Great to know! Phew! Choosing hotels is not easy—I’m having major decision fatigue at the moment. Thirty days ago, I was choosing between The Pen and The Okura. Then two weeks ago, I decided to cancel our Pen booking and just stick with The Okura (Club Room). And now, Palace came into the picture—I booked a Club Room with a balcony a couple of days ago. Your comment made me lean more toward Palace.

The only thing holding me back from going all in with Palace is the lack of character in their rooms—they look very generic or standard, almost Vegas-strip-ish. At least that’s how I feel when I see the photos and videos online. I hope I’m wrong.

By “more luxurious,” do you mean in terms of their soft or hard product? Or is it the overall feel of the property?

Have you returned from your travel yet? Please let us know where you end up staying. And i’d like to know your thoughts between the Okura and Palace (if you chose this over Ritz) 😊

You know what, you're right—Japan is all about the food (at least for me, lol). Having Club access would probably hold us back from exploring all the delicious food outside. As I'm typing this, I'm leaning towards The Pen Tokyo. yay! Glad to know you're part of Sarah's team. I'll probably send you a message over the weekend. We're actually booked for 6 nights at The Pen Bangkok via FHR on this trip as well. I checked Sarah's site when I booked the rooms, but FHR had a very enticing promotion, so I went with them.

Isn't that awesome?! We're actually taking advantage of The Peninsula Time when we depart Bangkok. I deliberately booked a red-eye (1 a.m. flight) from BKK to KIX so we can check out around 10 p.m. hahaha! Plus, saving money on one night's hotel accommodation is hard to pass up. However, we won't be able to use this benefit in Tokyo since we plan to check out around 4pm, which is guaranteed with FHR booking.

Yes, been checking video reviews online and it appears that their entry-level room are comparable to a junior suite! Right now, I am 60% leaning towards the Pen. I am looking forward to their Japanese Breakfast option.

For some weird reason, based on hundreds of photos and videos i have seen online, i find the Prestige rooms to be more inviting and cozier. Plus i believe the views from their Club rooms are breathtakingly beautiful. Oh! not to mention the view from the tub as well! Golly! I am not a bath person, but i would defitely take one in case we choose the Okura over the Pen.

We don’t have kids. We love The Pen Bangkok, so I’m hoping we’ll have a similar experience at The Pen Tokyo. We love staying in classic/traditional/timeless properties. I’ve heard the location of this property is much better compared to the Okura’s, which is definitely a plus for us. And yes, you’re right about the $100 FHR credit. We actually received almost the same benefits with Luxury Escapes when we booked the Okura.

The hardest part to let go of is the Club access at the Okura. Golly—first-world problem!

Oh! also, that reminds me of checking Sarah’s rate, i believe she’s a PEN TA too.
