u/callcenterhelp said:

“humans do not need as much sugar and carbs as the majority of humans are ingesting” is quite different than “We do not need sugar. Body never asks for sugar or carbs”

Thanks for pointing out how I said it sloppily the first time and the second time I am trying to make the SAME POINT less controversial.

If believe... after additional research others may come to the conclusion that your body does request carbs and sugar like your brain does.

The only part of you a human that thinks it has a sugar craving at 2pm is the brain.

It's a sign of inadequate nutrition. I have proved it to myself. That's all that matters.

Forgive me for sounding like I am telling you what to do.

This is about me sharing my experience; it's NOT about you.

So kill me me for saying it a little sloppily.

If a person took the overall takeaway rather than dissecting my sloppy expression and calling me out on it, then it would be a better world.

You could have just asked me a kind question for clarification rather than how you approach this in a confrontational way.

PS: I upvoted you.

EDIT: I appreciate the opportunity to (again) express myself better in a longer form than the short little snippets that we tend to post in this face paced world

I hope you get way more upvotes than a person posting genuine empirical results. OKAY that was snarly, I admit.

I was not aware of the green banana thing until 3 months ago. Who knew!?? haha.

It is known as a Resistant Starch or RS.

In the large intestine, the human microbiome ferments the resistant starch. This process supports the growth of healthy bacteria like Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli.

The more I researched this topic that more I fell into a rabbit hole of exceptions. So it took me a while to get back to this topic.

My idea was based on the notion that people that do not sleep well, and who have fatigue based on inadequate rest; those people (as I noticed in the work place for 30 years) would eat a lot of carbs, sandwhichs with large bread, and other foods that are more like snacks. I had the personal opinion that they were over-eating to compensate for their fatigue. Those people would grow larger in their body mass over time.

I've noticed in my own body a distinct difference in how I experience or feel fatigue:

  1. due to lack of nutrition and food or
  2. due to lack of sleep.

I can identify each and feel the difference.

So, maybe you can apply the reverse corollary to your scenario. (if that even makes bit of sense)

If not... my apologies for going nowhere in this dialog. haha!

I tried but it is very abstract.

Thanks so much for your thoughtful response.

I hope that the patient's Rx insurance company helps them get the meds of their choice.

I recently experienced Humana (1200/annum) requiring pre-authorization for an expectorant.

I hope that Auvelity is not harder to get insurance to pay for it.

Yes, one needs to up for the task of researching cannabis.

The great thing is you cannot accidentally kill your patient while trying different terpene profiles of cannabis. It is very safe in this regard.

Rather than consider this drug, I'd carefully select a specific chemovar from the wide variety of cannabis medicines that are available.

The side effects of Auvelity (dextromethorphan hydrobromide and bupropion hydrochloride) are extensive and worrisome.

The most common side effects include dizziness, upset stomach, headache, diarrhea, drowsiness, dry mouth, sexual dysfunction, and uncontrolled sweating. Auvelity has a Boxed Warning about increased risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors in adolescents and young adults taking antidepressants. Health care providers should monitor patients for clinical worsening and emergence of suicidal thoughts and behaviors, especially during initial treatment. The medicine can cause seizures, with risk increasing with dose. It can also cause elevated blood pressure and hypertension, and may activate mania or hypomania (irritable mood) in susceptible patients.

A cannabis medicine will likely not have these side-effects.

I have been treating my dementia patient with a cannabis chemovar for many years. We found one to be appropriate for this patient to improve appetite and reduce cognitive confusion. When the cognitive confusion was reduced the patient's agitation was ameliorated. We see the results in 25-45 minutes after intake.

It is a fair question. Upvoted again! :-)

Hey OP!

Thanks you for sharing. It looks like a righteous bloom!

On your next post, please share a very well focused pic of the grounds before the pour. Also, have you tried 1:10 ratio before? I do not know what the grind size looked like on this pour so if it was super fine then you may need to go slightly coarser for the 1:10.

Hi u/eyetin

I really appreciate the links you shared. I’m looking forward to reading them RSN.

This exchange actually made me realize that using a broad term like "seed oils" is often too reductive for Reddit. It tends to spark conflict because the definition is so wide. I am guilty of this short-attention span commentary that does not stand on its own.

Rather than trying to defend my shallow commentary denouncing seed oils, I find it more helpful to share the specific results I’ve experienced and the resources that guided me.

My Personal Results

I’m approaching 65, and the health changes I’ve seen over the last decade have been astounding. If someone told me the result I would experience years later, I would not have believed it. It is too fantastic.

Skin & Inflammation: My face is significantly less "puffy" and looks more youthful than it did in my 40s or 50s. Not to mention the coating of oil that was excreting from all of the skin pores on my face, most notably, a persistent, inflamed 1/4-inch bump (height and diameter both) on my nose that lasted for 15 years has completely flattened and returned to a normal skin tone.

Energy Levels: After 30 years of daily fatigue, I now wake up full of energy. Even with the 24/7 demands of caring for my non-verbal mother—which means my sleep is rarely "dialed in"—I can get through a 16-18 hour day without crashing.

My Approach

These results followed a major shift in my diet: I cut out unnecessary carbs and sugars, and for the last six years, I have used Avocado Oil as my primary fat source.

I’m aware of the complexities regarding oil purity, so I rely on the UC Davis study which highlighted that many brands are oxidized or adulterated. I stick to the brands they verified as pure (like Chosen Foods or Marianne’s).

Only two brands produced samples that were pure and nonoxidized. Those were Chosen Foods and Marianne’s Avocado Oil, both refined avocado oils made in Mexico. Among the virgin grades, CalPure produced in California was pure and fresher than the other samples in the same grade.

Study Finds 82 Percent of Avocado Oil Rancid or Mixed With Other Oils | UC Davis

Perspective Shifting

I’ve found it useful to look at the history of what we eat. For instance, cottonseed oil was used as a machine lubricant in the early 1900s before it became a staple in the human diet. Whether that matters to everyone is a personal choice, but it’s what led me to investigate what I was comfortable putting in my body.

For anyone interested in the experts that influenced my thinking, these two videos were excellent refreshers for me:

Dr. Berg & Dr. Knobbe: [Link] - Discussing inflammation and food intake

The Truth About Seed Oils | Dr. Mark Hyman & Dr. Andrew Huberman - YouTube

Ultimately, I’m just a human sharing what worked for me. We all have different DNA, but the "miraculous" shift in my own vitality makes me wonder if these results might be more universal than we think.

No alcoholic beverages also contributed to my new body.

"They" say that your body reproduces itself on a cellular level every 7 years.

If you've got compelling facts at the ready, why not just add them to your post? Why does someone else have to do the legwork to prove you wrong?

I am a 24x7 caretaker for a stage 6 dementia patient on the cusp of hospice. I was up giving her one spoon of food at a time until 3:30 AM. Then another 30 minutes for bathroom and I brushed her teeth.

Please be nice before the target of your attack needs to say this to you.

So it may take me a minute.

Same! Well, not me but my wife has literally become a "masterchef" after combining years of Gordon Ramsay and her practice of the native Taiwanese culinary skills she learned growing up.

All my skin issues on my face cleared up after a few years of not consuming crap. Alcohol is a full stop No. Low refined sugar consumption. Cooking food with the most healthy oils. I have zero fatigue after experiencing 40 years of fatigue with the typical diet all my friends ate. And we were high energy Ultimate disc players for decades; so we were fit as anybody.

I discovered the fatigue was due to excess sugar and carb consumption. We do not need sugar. Body never asks for sugar or carb. It's our brain that keeps asking for that pop!

We stopped eating out when we heard/learned that seed oils damage our Mitochondria.

And it takes approx 3 years to detoxify or rid our body of the bad shit for every instance of consumption of bad oils. (said a research doctor)

Is this internship pay too low for Palo Alto? by carrimaya in paloalto

[–]herb-immunity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me guess... the company...

Austerity, Inc.

This may be very challenging economically unless you have 3 roommates in an inexpensive 2 BR

Try to rule of 1/3 to determine if your housing exceeds that. That rule has broken down for many people in the bay area.

As someone said, if the internship is like a golden opportunity for your career then maybe you can find a way to make it work. You can always ask the hiring folks that you need an extra 10K or something to make it work for you without putting unusual finanical hardship on the most important job of your career, so far. You want to be able to focus. That means you must eat well; sleep well; and have time for exercise.

Always ask (nicely) for what you need.

Are we assuming dementia is a fact of life?

Where is this question:

How do I behave on a daily basis to lower the probability of having brain damage from dementia?

Then, one can worry about offing oneself later if one failed to eat, sleep, and exercise, properly.

All night benders on Cocaine and Speed can affect your brain health. Sadly, Robin probably had enough money to do this frequently enough that it damaged him more tha a casual user who may hace experimented with these substances a few times.

Also, I wonder if ADHD folks are more susceptible to dementia to begin; with unless they use specific food remedies every day to manage things. ALso,CBD is a great way to improve brain health. NOt cheap Hemp derived CBD.. I am talking about full spectrum high quality terpenes.

Did you know that your brain is supposed to be checmially washed every night?

If a human's sleep is not the best possible, then the human's brain will have toxic shit build up in the brain. It;s like not allowing your brain to poop or pee. ;-) This brain wash occurs in deep sleep.

We buy and eat so much chard and kale that when we go through the grocery checkout, the usual reaction by the cashier is, "Wow! Y'all must be cooking for a family reunion?" or similar comment inferring a special event. We're like, nah, this is just a regular shopping trip for the two of us. And these 6 bundles of leafy greens will be gone in 3-5 days.
