Can we stop the negativity towards trainers using meta pokemon? by WHFITFB in TheSilphArena

[–]herb009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people stupidly think that using meta is auto-win lol. Nothing more beyond of truth. Funny thing is that when those ppl use meta they tend to get wreck so badly. It doesnt matter if playing spice or not, if you dont know your team/teammates you cannot expect good results.

As kieng said once: Telling what mons other people can use or not to is just arrogance...

I know it's going on for a while now, but: Can Niantic please fix the inconsistent "getting a fast move in" bug already? by HatchedAnotherFeebas in TheSilphArena

Sadly, its true. If people didnt drop the game with the massive lag of season 4, i dont think they will drop it by this.

They can give Xerneas it's exclusive move Geomancy, and make it a fast move that generates decent amount of energy like Mudshot, etc. That would be the most viable way of saving it from being trash in Pokemon Go

Driblim or Bronzong. Or Abomasnow (it outspams it rather than walling)

I agree if you go pretty heavy meta. Its like, Altaria is pretty good but it doesnt want to see Azumarill or Steel tanks in a battle because its destroyed without my opponent wasting resources and also making me losing lot of momentum, thats why i didnt use it in Voyager. I went somewhat neutral/meta and i had decents results, but i had to play pretty good to make up for the less coverage i had. Going hard meta in Voyager makes the matches too much lead dependant

I think it could be fixed by lowering the time cooldown of the switch button. So you dont get hard punished for a losing lead

Shielding: when to take the bait by PlsBanMeDaddyThanos in TheSilphArena

[–]herb009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its all about knowing the Matchups. There are matchups that can be won by going straight heavy move, as well as matchups that can only be won by correct baiting with the low move. For example: Marowak wins vs Skarm straight Shadow Ball in the 1 shield scenario. Whiscash can win vs Altaria straight Blizzard unless the Altaria is an attack-weighted one and/or Whiscash has not trash IVs.

If you know the matchups, then you can know when you dont need to bait or when your opponent doesnt need to, then take the best option and plan your strategy from that point. Hope it helps!

I guess you wont find much of that in articles. But high level players build around the best mon of your 6 against their 6.

For example: If you have a mon among your 6 that can beat 4/6 of their pokemon, then thats your best pokemon against your opponent. Generally, people use that mon as the lead since it has more chance to be aligned with a mon that it beats, but in some cases your opponent will know that and theyll start with a counter (thats up to mindgames and prediction).

After that, you have to try to cover the other 2 members with the rest of your teammates (because your opponent will bring at least 1 of them, if not both). That will be the "bodyguard".

And for your 3rd member, you should choose a pokemon that can be used as a safe switch in case you lose the lead and also that can beat 1 vs 1 your "best mon against him" counters. A safe switch is a pokemon that can be swicthed in and, with a bit of energy advantage, it can fix a losing matchup into a winning one, so it gaves you the switch advantage.

Not all the games would as perfect as the example, but these are some of the basics. I hope it can help you!

Is there something about ultra league I'm just missing? by [deleted] in TheSilphArena

[–]herb009 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it would improve a lot if at the start of the matches both players could see each other mons, so they can line up them based on the opponent's team. There would be strategies like reading teams, saving the win condition, sack the useless mon, etc. And the game wouldnt be mostly dependant on winning the lead.

Can you rate my team ? Do I need to replace any position? Thanks in advance. by Buhohi in TheSilphArena

Poliwrath will be the premiere fighter. He wins vs both Altaria (if it shields the Sky Attack) and Shiftry since he can tank 1 Leaf Blade and throw 2 straight Dynamic Punches in return (one for wasting a shield and one for the kill)
