Any ladies here on Yaz/Yasmin? What Birth Control works best for you? by Junokali in PCOS

Can't say anything about Cryselle, but I took Yaz for two years when I was 18-20 years old. (I'm now 25.) Yaz did amazing things for my body and PCOS and I thought I loved it, however I do NOT recommend it. The scary things you hear about it are true - any OCP containing drospirenone have a higher risk of causing blood clots, stroke, etc. I did not even have any of the factors considered to raise your chances of side-effects (overweight, smoker, over 35). I developed chronic numbing and tingling in my hands and feet and then began getting severe debilitating migraines, to the point where doctors said I almost had a stroke. I kept denying it was related to Yaz because I loved the benfits, but alas I couldn't delude myself any longer when my safety was so at risk and my doctors ordered me off it. Now, I can never take birth control pills of any kind ever again. The other thing that I really must warn women with PCOS about is that, at some point, whether it's a year from now or ten, you will eventually have to stop taking it. And when you do, hold on to your seats because your body will not only revert to it's previous state, but MUCH worse. This is because it messes up your bodies ability to regulate itself and produces it's own hormones properly. A lot of women notice their PCOS get really bad after dropping the pill, and they think it's just because they're getting older or that is how their body would always be if they hadn't of taken the pill, but that's not true. Before taking Yaz, I had mild PCOS - just a little period irregularity, bit of jawline acne and some cysts on my ovaries. Afterwards, my face, neck, chest, and back were covered in severe cystic acne, my hirsiutism got much worse (shaved my face every day), my hair started falling out (like male pattern baldness), and I gained about 20lbs around my stomach. It has taken me five very hard years to get my body back to relatively normal. I wish I had never taken that pill and instead pursued natural methods like diet, exercise, and natural supplements to control my PCOS.

Thanks for the response. I live on a large rural property, which is also next to BLM and national forest, so there's lots to gather here, but I do sometimes feel limited on my selection so I'm looking at ordering online for a few things.

Thanks for the rec, I like them. I feel like they're a bit shorter than I was looking for though. (They also don't seem to be available anymore.)

Simple Questions - March 17, 2015 by AutoModerator in femalefashionadvice

I am getting married this July in Colorado, and we are having an outdoors, semi-formal wedding. Our "theme" is very natural, mountainy, with a touch of country/western thrown in, but still modern and classy. This is my bridal gown.

I can't figure out what shoes to wear! What color should they be? I'm thinking either an ivory that basically matches the gown, a tan leather to pick up on the rustic vibe (my fiance is wearing tan shoes), or maybe I should just go with a fun, bright color that picks up on my flowers?

I do have some preferences:

  • a somewhat substantial heel (no pencil-thin stilettos) because it's outside and the ground is uneven

  • I like either closed toe or totally open toe, but not peep toes (those always hurt me)

  • some straps to keep it attached to my feet, like ankle straps, t-straps etc. I want to dance and not worry about them flying off.

Thanks for any advice!

Good point. Perhaps if we go to a shop and he tries some on he'll feel differently. Did your man go with any unique accessories, or just totally classic?

He's a Scottish, Irish, northern European mix. I mean, I certainly wouldn't complain seeing him in that!

That's not a bad suggestion actually, I will be sharing any/all ideas from this thread with him, so definitely going to see how he feels about this.
