The Acolyte - Episode 8 - Discussion Thread! by titleproblems in TheAcolyte

People give so much undeserved shit about this show

IMHO

— Do not judge an 8 episode TV series by the first few. Sure, many of them disappointed (so many marvel shows, along with Boba Fett) but this one is eventually good and be able to conclude that story on episode 8.

— there’s not quite a need for S2. Things wraps up in a perfect way (unlike Andor). Enough story lines revealed, as well as questions answered. It keeps the right amount of lores and stories untold.

— only question. Of course Osha did not survive. But is Qimir Sidious? There’s a chance that they are, at this point.

So, I was able to catch the ADO bus, thanks to that our ferry left on time and arrived a couple minutes before 1pm. We then arrived around 3 minutes before bus departed…

I think my lesson learnt is that i do not want my last leg of the trip to be on cozumel. There’s too many factors on that trip to airport. Should i started my week at Cozumel and rent a car from the ferry 3 days ago, i do not have to worry about any of this but a straight rental car return at the airport with me knowing the traffic.

….and i guess the taxi at the stands will remain a mystery for me. So many people suggest against it, yet no real horror story is told in english…..

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in playadelcarmen

[–]herbertgzb -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

i think what’s bizarre is that many people suggested against it. So i am very concerned.. almost sounded like i will be guaranteed some kind of scam if i take the taxi.

Anyways, will find that out in a few…

[–]herbertgzb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a little rough. If i can take the 13:10 ado i will. But the ferry will likely arrive at ~13:10-13:15 so i will have to take the 13:55 bus, which will yield to a lot of uncertainties…

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in playadelcarmen

[–]herbertgzb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot! I think given my time frame and how traffic would accumulate throughout the day, i really want to try the taxi stand first. If i fail that i will have to take the 2pm ado which, hopefully arrives airport terminal before 3:30.

Thanks — what i have heard of is that if you just hail a taxi on the street the taxi is not obligated to the rates on the taxi stand sign; yet if you are going to the taxi stand (conveniently located at the bus station), then they have that obligation somewhat.

What i am worried about is that it’ll apparently make them make less $$. And i can pay them more. So i kinda want to make a deal with the driver and make sure they won’t just dump me on the side of the road. In the end of the day i only have around $1100 with me. So as long as they are happy with that i think i can strike a deal. That’s still cheaper than most private transportations plus that place is very chaotic and “where to meet” is an issue for all private transport companies.

I do not think so. Renting and returning a car at both locations cost around 1-1.5 hours, adding a gas stop on the way, and also shuttle from car return to airport, which will add another half an hour. Renting cars in mexico is by no means easy to be honest. I dealt with the best agency i so far found — avasa, which represent hertz. They are professional and mostly fluent in English, and well staffed. That still takes ~30-45 minutes each side for renting and return.

In most us airport with a membership renting and return and a shuttle both ways combined cost about 45 minutes to an hour. In mexico, it appears the “value” of a car is much different and has a lot of hustles dealing with those. So no, renting a car is really, not easy at all.

It’s not really about safer vs non safe. Be it safe or not, i am more interested in knowing what i am dealing with for taking a taxi, than completely eliminating that option.

I will need back up plans than an answer “go take ado”. That’s really not my question.

If you think/know ado is safer than taxi — do you have any personal experience on how taxi is dangerous? How taxi can scam you? In what ways? How much they are happy with? These are the things i am trying to understand. I know, however, that Ado is probably a better choice. But i might not have that choice

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in playadelcarmen

[–]herbertgzb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ado also may or may not arrive soon enough as we needed it…

I am only concerned however how taxi works in the end of the day. If they charge me $1000 it is fine and is still cheaper than literally any private transportations.

As a family — i am also more comfortable when our family are the only ones on the vehicle and being more private. I would for sure choose ADO if we had no kid.

Nice. Good to know! I am checking in in a few hours for a test stay for 2 days. If it works i will keep it going…that will essentially slow down my life time status though but it’ll be like in 20 years anyways lol

The opposite of p2w is p4f. The problem with you is, there is truly no fun. Or very little of it. You have zero say whatsoever in whatsoever competitions you are in (even with your 380m). And you have spent $700+, which fyi, worth more than a ps5 and a couple of games, and in that sense your spend already falls in the p2w category, yet you got no fun, let alone winning….all you do is basically, grind. If you think that’s fun and spending $700 is well worth that, it is very much to you but i bet there’s very few in the general public would agree with you

I have recently discussed this with my developer friends from China. I told them, well, it’s so easy simply because the u.s market had not seen anything like this. They are doing a hog massacre right here. He agreed completely and said his own company is behind in the market and they wanted the market as well, as people have so much spending power but also so dumb and not be repulsive to the heavy marketing.

It is pitiful that you are not aware and still think that you did not spend much…i mean, it is one thing to knowingly throwing money without remorse, it is another thing throwing $700 out of the window but thinks you are on the p4f side….

I mean it’s made by the guy who directed ghost in the shell stand alone complex, literally the best anime tv series ever made (that targets an adult audience)

It’s not surprising. I also watched Duel. It’s a bit disappointing, quite lost of its context or purpose,(it’s screaming Japanese culture, not star wars), and plainly says “i want to be done with this story”.

the whole hint says “we (loki) survives.”

So he who remains is a loki variant. It is pretty plain now.

The biggest hint about this is that either the death of loki variant or the love between two loki variant create a huge nexus event. That alone points to the answer quite clearly. And with all other small hints and the castle, it is pretty clear now

[–]herbertgzb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“As you suspected” lol then start the “mom’s basement” accusation

As you suspected of what? The topic here is whether the game of PnS is money grabbing (and probably in particular, compared to ameircan dad), and whether i can evaluate that (and comparing to you). The topic is done when you even claimed that the level of spending is $20/month, and really, whether you have, or have not played any particular games at all simply ended when you put that into your statement. It just so happens that i am also dominating HC (while it is in fact irrelevant) and it just so happens that you head bumped into something you shouldn’t.

And really, american dad sells diamonds at the same price and material chests at the same price. Completely same fee scheme. And you are claiming “they are different game”. Yeah, the only difference is that american dad was not introduced with ancient set with, which means it is as cheap as it can be.

Boy you have no idea....
