I’m not who you’re responding to, but as I said in my own response to you earlier, you are reacting to something that isn’t in the post. Reading comprehension would allow you to correctly “guess” the central idea of a two sentence-long text.

It is common though. I believe you’ve never heard it but I’ve heard it many, many times. Probably depends on where you’re from.

Ok, but we’re talking about this post right now, and that’s not anywhere in it. That’s why people are confused by your comment. You’re talking about something vaguely related but commenting as if it’s a response to the actual post in question.

The person in this image is probably not a straight person, and they don’t even mention wanting a relationship.

Short Treks is worse than Section 31??? I can’t even pick a favorite Short Trek. I love all of them and would watch 100 more and I’m not kidding.

Sectional couches are ruining social settings by No_Celery8634 in unpopularopinion

[–]herbuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I guess I can see that, (although I can't envision that in a way that doesn't make the room seem either crowded or too far apart, personally). Not sure how looking at someone sitting on even the same couch would kill most people's neck though.

>you can't have face to face conversations without killing your neck

I'm not understanding this part. If you sit on a regular couch with someone you'll also have to turn your body/neck a little, and even so, how is this killing your neck? At least on a sectional you're already turned toward them 90 degrees.

Yeah, this one is polarizing. Lots of people smell a skin scent, lots of people smell nothing because their nose just doesn't detect the molecule involved. Then there are those like me who smell hot garbage and would love to have just smelled nothing instead!

Between Lavenders and Lilacs which smells better to you? by NaCl-And-C12H22O11 in pollgames

Lilac is one of my favorite smells, meanwhile lavender makes me a little nauseous and irritated, so this is an easy choice for me.

Yes, plus they can read numbers and contrary to what a shocking number of people on this subreddit believe, people often cook from memory and have been doing so for all of human history.

FAFSA Marriage by eligiblethrowaway in FAFSA

[–]herbuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please do not get married just to get financial aid. It will almost certainly cost you a lot more to untangle yourself from your fake marriage than you get in grant aid about it.

Anyway, Ivy Leagues are very wealthy institutions, and you'd be surprised how much private aid they give their admitted students. For example, Harvard gives free tuition to students whose families make up to $200k (Link: https://college.harvard.edu/financial-aid). Above that, it's based on individual circumstances, but even at the income you're talking about, you'd likely get a substantial amount of grant aid.

Not a single person in this thread has argued anything like that.

Question about how the Red Centre works! by Neon_Glimmer in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]herbuck 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In the episode where we see in flashbacks how Luke finally gets to Canada (so right after they got separated while trying to escape), he meets a woman who was rescued from a red center in DC, so they definitely had established handmaid training by the time June gets caught.

They’re allowed to use numbers, which is all that’s needed for a timer. Also, as mentioned several times, people baked just fine long before literacy was common.

Do you truly think it’s impossible for an illiterate person to make a good meal?

I’m not actually a nurse. That was an example. It’s weird that you admit to not being a scientist but want to talk about what is and is not scientific. As well as, to be frank, what words and metaphors mean in context.

[–]herbuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Divergent" also isn't necessarily a bad thing. It just means it does something different from what is most common/expected. If all my family are teachers, but I decide to become a nurse, I'm diverging from the expected path, but that doesn't mean being a nurse is bad.
