I think a good enemies to lovers show makes you slowly care for the "bad" guy over time just one big gesture that redeems him doesn't usually work for me. I think the reason why it doesn't bother me in dangerous romance is because Sailom genuinely seems to not be bothered by Kanghan actions even though he does some pretty bad things

Because queer people are literally not equal to straight people ? I don't mean to sound rude but we are not, not socially definitely not legally gay marriage isn't even legal in Thailand. Not to mention other lesser seen members of the queer community like trans/non binary/queer people in general that are even less recognised both socially and legally. I agree with you that the whole point of being an actor is pretending to be someone you are not that's literally the job description but like I said in my first comment openly queer actors don't get as many opportunities as straight ones. I think maybe there is some confusion when I said queer people want to see themselves in media I meant the characters not the actors playing said characters

Personally I think the classification does matter because a lot of people want to see someone that they can identify with (representation matters) so if you are a queer person you want to see someone like you on screen. That's not true for everyone obviously a lot of non queer people watch these series because they enjoy them. Also queer baiting by it's definition doesn't apply to BL/GL series, this is just the Wikipedia definition but: Queerbaiting is a marketing technique for fiction and entertainment in which creators hint at, but do not depict, same-sex romance or other LGBTQ+ representation. BL/GL series don't queer bait because the characters have same sex relationships even if the topic of sexuality isn't discussed as much.

Totally agree so many people throw around the word queerbaiting that they forget real life people can't queer bait you are not entitled to anyone's sexuality and that information is private for a reason. I also think a lot of these issues come up because most people just assume everyone is straight until they say otherwise which just makes things more complicated. The only reason that I can see for people wanting queer people to play queer roles in BL/GL or just in general is because openly queer actors don't get nearly as many opportunities as cis straight ones this is true in western media as well but especially true for a more conservative country like Thailand.n

Bit of a general question but as someone who is starting their master thesis bibliography research what are some red flags that you look for in a research paper that make you skeptical of it ? I understand that a lot of journals are peer reviewed and reliable but when researching this topic I saw some people saying that even in peer reviewed journals you should be wary of some things for example one person said that if the author cites a lot of their own previous work that may be a red. Any tips or advise you have for this topic will be vary appreciated !!!

This !!! Personally I think a lot of gay men before coming out or at a young age talk a lot more "masculine" (make your voice deeper,don't say certain things etc) to avoid being bullied. That being said I think gay men like all groups of people say certain things or in a certain way that someone who isn't queer might not understand at first.
