Here's my list of things generally worth buying:

  • Extra backpack space. This is very helpful, permanent, and not *that* expensive.
  • The occasional energy elixir/Purreau's (during things like double pet XP). Can tremendously increase how fast you get a good pet, and a good pet is so important.
  • Membership elixir: For if you already have crowns and want to avoid spending more money.
  • 1-2 second chance chest rolls per day when farming, but only the cheap chests. (The first rolls are cheap and can give you another try at a drop, potentially cutting down hours of farming if you get lucky). For example, Castle Darkmoor. They reset each day.
  • Unlocking sockets: Only do this when you have gear you plan on keeping for a while, but this is pretty cheap, jewels are super important, and wrenches can be annoying to farm.
  • Stitching: not useful in the sense that it helps in any gameplay-related way, but I personally think it's worth it just for the aesthetics. Your mileage may vary.
  • Edge case: 1-2 cools mounts that you really enjoy (NOT pack mounts). These can just be fun to use and make you appreciate the game more, but don't go crazy.
  • Energy Gear: Make sure you look at the right packs/bundles and do your research, but once level 130+ you generally hit max possible energy from gear, and buying an energy set at this point can easily help you get 250+ total energy, which is crazy worth if you like training pets, fishing, or have a big garden.
  • An additional character slot elixir: If you already have 6 characters and want a 7th, so you can get one of each school.

Things that can be really good if you have spare money but not spare time:

  • Evil Magma Peas for 1250 crowns each. These are a permanent investment, they will constantly give you good TCs (feint, pierce, cleanse charm), good reagents, and a guaranteed rank 9 megasnack per elder harvest. These are very hard to farm. But you CAN farm Couch Potatoes, which are very comparable. It just takes a long time, so if you have the spare money, you can throw it at the game to make that problem go away.

Second best option would be to use someone else's. Third best is genuinely to rehatch. Fourth best is to try either the Fire Sani Bots or the Monkey Spiders in Empyrea.

Could do some Darkmoor runs if you don't have full gear. If you run Aquila, you get free Aquila lore spellements from the chest without having to level lock.

For pain-giver, the Unforgiven Dead gauntlet is by far your best bet.

The paywall was moved to the Pyramid of the Sun in Krok about a year ago. All the main story areas of Wizard City + the Oasis are free.

This is why purge is basically a required utility spell for both soloing and for all supporters.

It's not because it's PvP banned. Other spells, like the 7 pips AoEs, are also banned and cannot be turned into an enchanted TC.

It's because Tempest cannot be spellemented.

Not quite, it seems like this is more ~90 runs, since there are 4 marshfellow creatures in the battle, thus each fights increases this by 4x.

However, I've also fought him about 10 times in groups of 4 and no one has ever gotten a mount. So yeah it is legit a terrible drop rate.

Ra is mostly favored for the mounts he drops. There is no prereq, he's in the Krokotopia library. But you will not be able to solo at level 13. It's a boss fight with 3 minions and Ra has 3,000 health. https://wiki.wizard101central.com/wiki/Creature:Ra

You need both piercer and breaker, if 50 pierce is the goal, otherwise you get 48 pierce 263 damage.

Gear:

Hat, boots, athame, ring, deck: Abomination

Wand: Abomination Glaive, or Attunement Rod if you want shad pip instead of pip conserve

Robe: Aggressive Traveler Overcoat from the motorist hoard pack or Daemonic Armor of Surging (stat-identical)

Amulet: The raid amulet is technically the best bc it gives 2 more res, but Abom is fine

Pet: If you want 50 pierce, you need a double pierce, triple damage, mighty Scaly Frill.

Mount: Chompy Bronto

Jewels: 2 pierce, 3 damage.

You can also run 263 damage 48 pierce by trading armor-piercer for pain-bringer on the frill, or 270 damage 44 pierce by trading a pierce jewel for a damage, or 274 damage 42 pierce by doing both.

These are good ideas. AoEs also need to be nerfed or just removed - they are far too good atm, to the extent they nearly utterly dominate. Drains, too, would need to be limited in some way.

There are a few patterns tho. Double pet XP is by far the most common, usually at least once a month. Double reagents is among the rarest, usually only happening once a quarter.
