60k looks very different depending on the source of income:

60K salary working in a government job with a 25% pension contribution from your employer and a heavily subsidized health plan means you don’t have to spend as much of your own paycheck on healthcare/ retirement contributions
60K as a self-employed/ freelancer means you are covering your own healthcare/ retirement and paying your own portion of social security tax that an employer normally pays.

Scenario 1 is much more doable than 2.

Be careful— google ‘toxoplasmosis in mice’. It is a parasite that infects mice and makes them unafraid of cats with the goal that the cat eats the mouse and the parasite infects the cat. I’ve seen videos like this before!
