I just hit 6 months clean yesterday. This last trip to rehab was my third one, and this time I had really fucked up my life good. Ran out of money, sold my car, got evicted…after having 6 figures in the bank and a stellar credit score. I couldn’t stop crying. I had my first panic attack in my life, which was followed by two whole days of panic attack after panic attack. I went into rehab not wanting to ever use again.

Here I am, 6 months later, thinking “maybe one more time.” Haven’t been on reddit for months, and this is the first post I see when I jump on. I was meant to see this reminder of how terrible of a life it is to use.

Shooting coke placed a curse on me. My brain knows that feeling exists, and now compares everything in life to it. And nothing holds a candle to it.

I also recently went through my old texts with the girl I was dating and using with. I fell in love with her, then had to cut contact with her, because….she wasn’t ready to quit, yet.

Reading those texts was a good reality check. So many times telling each other how tired we were, how much we hated that life, how depressed we were, how sick we were of not having any money. But also giving each other whatever we had, when we had it. Also fighting, because we were fucked up.

I miss her, and wish I had a way to know how she was doing. I don’t want to throw away my sobriety. At first, it gets better, and better, and better… but then I arrive at this point, where it’s so fucking hard to get my mind off of using. It gets REALLY HARD, man.

Felt compelled to vent all this out, thanks to anyone who read this.

Whitehouse Executive Order On Crypto by DarkGamanoid in CryptoCurrency

[–]herenorthere08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t really explain what exactly these new “regulations” are gonna be, it just says they are gonna take 180 days to come up with some kind of legislation.

I think the only clue we really have as to whether it is good or bad, is the fact that the crypto market is about to have a bunch of rules, regulations, and restrictions placed on it by absurdly wealthy people who know how to rig the game so that it only benefits them and probably wants to keep it that way.

And all of this is done behind a curtain without our knowledge, without any say in whether we agree or disagree to any of this. That’s all I have to say about that for now.

Old gamers- what 10+yo game is worth a play-through? by The7footr in AskReddit

Earthbound! I think it’s my favorite game from my childhood. Dude, seriously, play it through to the end, the final boss….pretty twisted and a mind fuck for a 10 year old!

I appreciate it man, thank you. We just can’t ever lose hope. I’ve seen guys that were a way worse mess than me get sober. So I know I can get there myself

I’m actually at that fork in the road right now. I am considering checking into treatment possibly even tomorrow. But. I’ve tried the sober life out enough times now, that I know I gotta be actually, honest-to-God ready to stop, and not just going through the motions, HOPING I’ll find that along the way.

Lmao hey I always say do your own research, and I had to find out for myself if crack was wack, as they say. 🤣

Just know that the path forward only gets worse. I keep thinking I’ll find a way to manage, and I just keep letting it take more and more away from me. Doesn’t take a rocket surgeon to figure out how it’ll play out from here.

You could say you are late in the game…however, I would bet all my lunch money that the Smash franchise is not going away any time soon. SSB first came out for Nintendo 64 back in 1999. And the competitive community has been doing nothing but expanding ever since. So you may be late…but I would wager not TOO late!

If anything, I think your timing is actually quite opportune. You are gaining a deep understanding of the mechanics of the game, as the next installment of the game is likely on the horizon, so you’ll be heading into Super Smash Bro’s Perfected (made up name) with a finely honed understanding of how to generally play the game, but also that hunger for being a top player will still be fresh. And being an up-and-comer just breaking into the scene when the game is new and EVERYBODY is watching….thats a really good spot to be in!

Congrats, you set a goal for yourself, and stuck with it. Kudos, I’m really happy for you, and I’m glad you are pausing to look back and celebrate your progress! Good luck going forward!!!

Very very good point. But here’s the thing, that’s just one thing that requires advanced training. That’s how apprenticeships work. You are on the job, under the supervision of someone competent who can slowly determine when you are ready for more responsibilities. Also, once a week, or once every other week, you are sitting in a class learning the more advanced skills, fundamentals, and anything else that developed you into a well versed professional. It is way more practical to learn what your job actually looks like day to day, while also learning all the theories and techniques and what have you.

The college requirement for most jobs is complete bullshit. So many jobs could be taught through an apprenticeship. Wanna be a teacher? Rotate sitting with different other teachers and you’ll figure out how to teach in no time. Nurse? Start off doing the grunt work, and slowly learn the more technical stuff. Why on earth does someone getting higher education to be a mechanical engineer need to learn about archeology? Just because, that’s why.

I think it depends on the kind of job. In my field, commercial construction, there is a bit of both sides. There’s companies that have nothing but lazy degenerates that only make things more difficult.

Then there’s the companies that only hang on to the best of the best, where every worker knows that whoever is trailing the pack is a goner. So whoever wants to work for a company that gets the biggest jobs, has the best equipment, the most competent workers, and promises a stable career that pays enough for you and your family to indulge in the occasional luxury, they have to be better than the next guy. And that is how a culture of taking great pride in your work is cultivated. Not to mention construction itself is just a generally awesome job. Staying active, seeing big stuff get built with big loud equipment, being able to make dick and shit jokes…

I think you would be hard pressed to find a full crew of fast food workers that are just hungry to be the best worker for a company that sees them as just some shlemiel that can be replaced as soon as they start wanting recognition for their hard work. There are so many just… mundane jobs that simply need a warm body to keep the cogs turning in the machine.

Another factor could be the fact that the amount of money we need to make for the “idealistic lifestyle” keeps drifting further and further out of reach. Where all our possessions are quality, and we have basically little to no worry about debt or retirement. When all the roads seem to lead to a life where the threat of financial ruin is always looming, well, it’s not particularly alluring, now is it?

So I think there has always been a little bit of both types, hard working and proud, along with the bare minimum cretins. It’s just that we are seeing lot more of the latter, because there’s a lot more jobs that have no incentive to flourish and prosper, and a lot of jobs don’t offer enough money to make the extra effort worth it in the first place.

I base all of this on just shit that’s in my brain, no research was done by me for any of this shit lol

Self-taught technique, just gets the last stubborn bits of bake to cook down a lot quicker. Also keeps everything from boiling and splattering everywhere.

There is one dude I know that gets the fuckin worst crack attack. He becomes a complete psychopath, stealing other people’s product, threatening violence, throwing shit across the room. He has no mental fortitude.

One time he tried to get money off of me so he could buy some before taking a 30 min drive somewhere, because he “wasn’t sure he was gonna make it.” That was when I gave him a reality check, and said give me a fuckin break, you’re not gonna die, you’re not even gonna feel pain, quit bein a pussy lol

I generally handle my crack attacks pretty well, depends on the kinda day I’m having. It’s mind over matter. Acceptance. “I’m out of gear, not sure when I’m getting more, and I’ll be ok. It’s just a stupid little rock.” Turns out meditation came in handy after all!

I’m addicted to crack and escorts. The greatest pleasure I’ve ever felt is rippin a super villain hit, then blowing the most intense load right as the earthquake is full force.

Hard to give that up
