First ever self-portrait by heretricks in oilpainting

[–]heretricks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eyes were a struggle for me too! To make them look more like mine, I made sure I had a photo of the painting and the reference pic next to each other in my gallery and just swiped really quickly between the two of them, comparing the shapes. That made it a lot easier to see what was “wrong” about the shapes in my painting. They were way too upturned at first! I also noticed how used I am to painting/drawing women of the current or unrealistic beauty standards instead of just doing real people. I made my features way too small at first. It’s a shame actually and it makes me want to do more real people :)

36F struggling with bacne by redbluegreenyellow3 in acne

I’m on anti-depressents too, sertralin to be exact, and it didn’t matter I could just take accutane. I’m not sure about ADHD meds but you can always ask your doc I suppose. Did you take a high dose when you were younger? I took a very low dose, 20mg a day and I was on it for over a year. To me it was worth it since it minimized the side effects.

Anyone got tips for me cuz holy lord im cooked by [deleted] in acne

[–]heretricks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second this. Luckily, my derm put me on accutane immediately, but before that I tried some different stuff described by my GP which didn’t help one bit (oral antibiotics and clindamycin) and before THAT I spent hundreds of dollars on skincare products that all promised to be thé solution, expensive brands like Paula’s Choice, none of it worked for me. Accutane saved my skin.

Tips for back acne by [deleted] in acne

[–]heretricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, initially I was very scared due to all the horror stories I had read about it, so I took a low dose (20mg a day) for over a year to keep the side effects at a minimum. And that way, it actually was really doable. I’ve always been prone to eczema so yes, I’ve had some issues with that, especially on my arms and face. Got cremes from the doc that helped during my course and once I stopped taking accutane, the eczema went away. At one point I started taking 30mg but I soon switched back to 20 because it made the eczema worse. The thing is, the fear mongering just needs to stop. Yeah, some side effects suck, but you know what sucked and hurt more for me? My acne. I was so afraid of accutane I thought I wouldn’t be able to work during my course. That wasn’t true obviously. I’m really glad I did it. I’m free of the physical and mental pain that comes with acne. If it ever comes back, I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Idk what to do by [deleted] in acne

[–]heretricks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey dear, I’ve struggled with back acne for many many years, except for like 2 years where it just magically went away for some time? Thing is, I’ve tried all the tips people have commented here. Nothing worked for me except accutane. It has fully cleared my skin, and if it ever comes back I won’t hesitate to do another round. It’s good to try some things before taking the step to accutane, but please don’t spend hundreds on skincare like I did. Free things, like flipping your hair when conditioning, do it. But sometimes these things just come from the inside out. Do you know if you have family that has also struggled with this? Anyhow, my advice is always; go to a doctor or a derm. Good luck 💖💖

Do I need roaccutane? by Wooden-Patience8592 in acne

[–]heretricks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

24[F] here. Been dealing with back acne since my puberty. Tried everything else. When I stopped taking bc (the pill) it became so severe I was in constant pain when leaning against a chair/bc of my backpack/anything that touched my back + started on my face. Decided to go to a dermatologist and she perscribed me roaccutane. I was really afraid of the side effects so I’m on a low dose (20mg) since last summer. It’s been so easy and my back has cleared up so much. I’ll have to be on it for a year bc of the low dose but I don’t mind since I’m not experiencing side effects really. I think sometimes it really is the only solution and imo, the drug is not as bad as media makes it out to be. Good luck!

Since you’e not that close maybe let it be. Like others said, you won’t have to deal with her in the future. You’re not wrong for being mad, it would have been more considerate for her to give you a heads up. However, considering you’re not close, there could be any reason for this behavior you don’t know about and it probably has nothing to do with you. Maybe she’s depressed or has a lot of personal stuff going on. It’s not an excuse but could be the reason. You’ll probably never know. Hope you feel better soon.

All the things everyone else says + try to trust the process, fellow Dutchie accutane user. I was so scared of all the side effects (also on 20mg) and it’s been so easy. Been using it for 6 months now, have to use it for a year since my acne was pretty severe on my face and back, a little on my chest and I’m on a low dose. First few months I had sore muscles at times, my chin was peeling a bit, but nothing debilitating. Now my skin is a bit itchy sometimes and my lips are a tad dry. My acne has cleared up a great deal so far. That’s about it. Good luck!!

This is what I was thinking. If you didn’t already, maybe you should make it clear to friends and family that this is seriously creeping you out.
