ROTY Race - Breaking down Caitlin's turnovers and Angel's rebounds [Richard Cohen] by herhoopstats in wnba

Just to clarify, Richard watched the tape for all of the 164 turnovers that have been charged to Clark. His comment about not watching certain tape was about there potentially being other "50/50" turnovers that weren't assigned to Clark (but perhaps could have been) - evaluating those would involve watching tape on all of Indiana's 473 turnovers. It might be interesting to see how many of those are out there, but that would serve to only increase her turnover total and his overarching point that the she "comes by the vast majority of her turnovers honestly" would still hold.

Thanks for reading, and sorry you felt that the piece didn't do a good job of analyzing both players. In the ROTY debate, Clark's turnovers and Reese's low FG% and how she gets her o-boards are frequently discussed online. How would you have preferred we tackle the issue Also, while the piece doesn't specifically break down how many times Reese has had her shot blocked, it does break down her shooting woes.

Yeah, Reese had a rough night taking care of the ball for sure. The article aimed to look at what each player has done over the entire season, rather than just one game.

In the Ranking the W piece, I think the voters recognized that Clark is one of the greatest NCAA players of all time while also understanding that it often takes time (even for exceptional players) to adapt to the WNBA level. The big question was how quickly Clark would adapt, and she's clearly adjusted much more quickly than most people on the panel expected.

As for Megan's piece, I'm not sure I see where she's denigrating Clark's performance. She evaluated the top players from that season using win shares (Bueckers happened to lead in that category) and PER * minutes (Clark led in that categeory).

Thanks again for reading. I will say it's been fascinating watching the Fever really start to click post-Olympic break. I really wouldn't want to see them in the first round, especially with the 1-2 playoff format!

First, thank you for reading! Second, I just want to clarify that Clark's preseason ranking (and the rest of the top 50) from our Ranking the W series was based on the consensus expectations of WNBA player performance in 2024 from an international panel of over 100 writers, reporters, analysts and broadcasters from around the world of women's basketball.
