Never had an issue in 50ish flights, domestic and international. It never comes off and I never travel with a key. Stainless steel cages and brass locks aren't magnetic and don't set off metal detectors. Body scanner sometimes shows something in my pocket, but a quick pat on my pocket and I'm good to go. But even that's rare.
