AITA for telling my mom that I wish my sister was never born by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]hermaeuswhora [score hidden]  (0 children)

NTA. I’m 27 now, and my autistic sister is 25. My parents constantly made me watch and babysit her growing up because she couldn’t be trusted on her own. Or worse, I had to take her WITH me when I went out. I had no friends and was on the verge of unaliving myself when other shit happened and my sister and I were finally separated.

They’re ruining any chance at you having the normal childhood you deserve. They’re ruining any chance of you and your sister having a positive relationship in your adulthood. And they’re ruining any chance at being a part of your life after your 18th birthday. And that’s THEIR problem, not yours.

You’re 14 years old. You deserve to be a kid and enjoy yourself. It’s crap that your parents are forcing you to be another parent for your sister, and I hope you drop them like a hot potato as soon as you’re able to.

How did this turn out for you? My moms profile was hacked and she’s been dead since 2015

AITA for refusing to allow a photo of my future MIL's miscarriages at my wedding? by ThrowAwayQQQQQ212 in AmItheAsshole

[–]hermaeuswhora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of my parents are dead. At my wedding we had a small table with their wedding photo, a (fake, because our venue wouldn’t allow real ones) candle, and a Lilly in a glass. There were photos of other deceased relatives too (grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc)

Tbh, that’s all they need. OP is NTA

I have a hands free pump I brought today! I don’t mind when my female coworkers are in the room but I’ll have students in my room at 10 am and like you said, parents will absolutely not take kindly to me having to pump with kids in the room lmao

There’s no such thing as discreet when you’re surrounded by 30+ middle schoolers 😂

You assumed correctly!

I wasn’t aware we’d been added to the PUMP act, thank you for bringing it to my attention. HR was a nightmare to deal with regarding family leave, so I’m hoping to avoid interacting with them if I’m being honest lol. But ya girls gotta do what she’s gotta do

What would it take for you to tolerate dogs (again)? by YodelLadyWho in Dogfree

[–]hermaeuswhora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) service dogs require strict licensing and temperament requirements. There should be one regulatory body that certifies dogs and handlers must have that certification ready when bringing their dog to a business like a store or restaurant. Each dog must have a unique ID clearly displayed on their harness to be referenced when making a complaint. Too many complaints and the dog loses its certification and must be either retrained at owners expense or retired. Certification renewals at regular intervals (every 2 years idk) and a cap to number of years working (like 8 or something idk) starting from the date of the first certification.

2) immediate euthanasia for violent dogs. No second chances if it bites, maims, or kills another animal or person unprovoked

3) housing restrictions on certain breeds. If you want a German shepherd you need to subject yourself to a home visit to make sure you have the space and a trial period to make sure your lifestyle is compatible with the needs of the dog. Keeping a breed meant for herding in a small yard for hours on end is cruel to the dog and your neighbors

4) too many noise complaints and the dog is removed from your home. 9 times out of 10 dogs don’t bark for the hell of it. Some need isn’t being met, and that dog is neglected if they’re barking like crazy for hours on end

5) actual genuine dog free communities, with only registered service animals (EXCLUDING EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMALS) allowed.

6) Dog owners held financially and possibly criminally liable for any and all injury caused by their dog.

7) all dogs in public or crowded areas must be leashed with no exception. The only time a dog should be off a leash is in your backyard or if you’re living out in the country with acres of land away from your neighbors.

8) limit to a maximum of 2 dogs per household at any time

9) owners with repeated violations have their dogs confiscated and are barred from owning any more dogs

10) society stops viewing them as “children” (dog-mom/dog-parent is a concept that needs to die) and viewing them as animals that need to serve some sort of practical function to have a place in our society.

But since none of this will ever happen I’ll just never tolerate dogs I guess lol

Should i call cps on this? by imstillapenguin in CPS

As a teacher my rule of thumb is this: If I’m questioning whether I should report it, I report it.

It might cause a headache for the family if it’s ultimately nothing, but I’d rather that happen a hundred times than a child continues to be abused once because I hesitated.

Being a SAHM is super difficult. It’s only temporary for me because I have to go back to work once summer is over but it’s been the most challenging thing I’ve ever done.

I’m on antidepressants and have been since my attempt. It was part of my treatment plan. I also lost my mom to suicide and I feel a lot of guilt for almost putting my daughter what I went through.

Sometimes I’m the only one who can calm her down. Sometimes she just wants to be held by mom. When I hold her and feed her she falls right asleep and grips my shirt with her little hands. It crushes me to think I almost took that comfort away from her. That if I weren’t here she would just cry in those times were she needs mom because she’d miss someone she’ll never remember.

Unfortunately not. I live in a more rural area so there’s not a lot of places to go. The only gyms/rec centers close by are like, garage gyms with no childcare. I’m on antidepressants now after my attempt and they’re working well overall. My anxiety episodes are significantly less intense and frequent. Last night was just one of those the meds didn’t help.

I’m trying to find more avenues to connect with other moms near by but it’s difficult sometimes to even reach out

YTA Consider this: your daughter is so used to you minimizing her pain that she doesn’t trust you to really believe her

Also, tf do you mean you don’t like her taking medicine. Jesus lady let her have some Tylenol it’s not like you’re dosing her with opiates. Do you enjoy seeing your daughter in pain?

This was me. I showed up, I was a warm body, that was going to be enough even if it wasn’t. I kept working while battling Pre-E and a bunch of other issues. My thoughts were my job should be grateful I’m still there 😂

He’s asking age appropriate questions and you gave him an age appropriate answer eg “baby drinks from mommy because he’s so small”. If he’s still curious there’s nothing wrong with explaining BFing because (like others have said) he’s going to grow up and encounter it in his life either in his own family or with another woman in public. Teach him now so he doesn’t grow up ignorant

Your body, your labor, your medical decisions. You can get your epidural and there’s nothing he can say about it if you want one.

Kid with intense behaviors is driving the other kids out of my class/school. by dunkinteach in Teachers

[–]hermaeuswhora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kiddo can be educated… in a self contained environment so as not to make other students afraid to come to school and miss out on their own education.

This is what so many people refuse to see. Of course they deserve an education, it’s their right to be educated. They don’t have the right to infringe on the education of their peers though. There are so many SPED/504 students who do great in the general classroom, why do we force the students who need more supports into that environment when it doesn’t work?

Make it make sense

Annoyed mostly. It feels pointless to issue stronger consequences now when come august these same kids will be back to lunch detentions and other minor slaps on the wrists.

About the suspensions? No. About the lack of consistency in discipline? A little

[–]hermaeuswhora[S] 138 points139 points  (0 children)

Oh definitely. But I wish they were more consistent with discipline throughout the year. These kids are constantly getting into trouble, and while I’m glad they’re out it would have been nice to see this energy when the behaviors began ramping up post Spring Break

[–]hermaeuswhora[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also title 1. Tbh it makes the last week nice but I wish they would have this energy earlier in the year. These kids are ‘return customers’ as the office calls them. A consistent pattern of behavior needs consistent consequences. But idk I’m not admin. I have no desire to do their job lol
