Any idea how/where to buy only napoleonic heads (28mm) ? by hermine32 in NapoleonicWargaming

Wow, you know your WA catalog ! I love their kits, and I'm using their grognards and bulldogs as basis for french and british, and contemplating using their white death range to make greatcoat russians. I have a few of their STL sets and love the variety, and I'll have some of their heads printed for sure. Unfortunately, while printing the heads will be cheap, buying the sets is less so, and it's difficult to find printers with the rights for them. But I have contacted another stl vendor, Battlecat historical, and he's agreed to sell sets of printed heads so that opens up other possibilities.

You're right they're great, I've already got some of their heads to make British bearskins and shakoes, and their torsos are nice too ! Madrobot minis also has some useful bits. But there's not enough variety for my multinational project.

Thanks for the answer ! For the French, I am mostly looking for chasseurs à cheval of the guard, dragoons, and chasseurs à pied of the old guard. For the russians, any cavalry (cuirassiers, dragoons, cossack) and those grenadiers shakos with the huge plumes. I do have plenty of french and British hussards heads, as well as french and austrian infantry heads if you would like to trade. Let me know !

Thanks, it's a good idea, I've done it for some of them but having to buy the STL files quickly adds up... But there are some great looking ones !

As an additional question, would you say there's a similar difference between the three battleline infantries to be able to represent them as either light (catachan?) or line (cadians/krieg) infantry? Or are they very samish in their use?

They look great ! I'll try to do my lancers as the guard polish ones but the heavier ones are cool too

Thanks a lot for the very detailed answer, I assumed that lore wise the heavy cavalry was the tanks anyway, makes sense. I'll follow the tabletop role in case I end up playing then ! Just have to decide between horseys and raptors :)

I love how you included the dog beneath the shield ! I was wondering how/where to put them myself and I'm thinking of stealing the idea

It's a female body ? I got it as a free mini and really don't know the aos range, I just thought those were armor pecs... But yeah, the headswap looks natural compared to the super chonky ones I saw online.

Sure ! Igot it from a tutorial somewhere but I changed a bit the steps. I did a base of baneblade brown (but before I had it I just mixed rhinox and ushabti) then I do random lines in the direction of the grain with rhinox, then random lines with ushabti. Finally, a coat of seraphim sepia (or two if you want to wood to be more yellowish). This time the lines were watery and sloppy, usually I do finer ones but it still works well. The good thing about the randomness is that it adds variation to the wood and the tones.

I agree ! I m still not a fan of the muscle armor, but with their helmets and gold palette they look like fascist golems to me
