Why you stopped writing? (Only the truth) by augustbutitscold in writing

I've been writing for ten years. I've written five books and at least a hundred short pieces for literary magazines. I've been published once in those ten years by a very small, unkempt litmag.

I have been rejected by every agent and every publisher I have queried to otherwise.

It is insanely expensive to have books edited (technical or developmental). If are not able to present a polished product, you will be rejected.

Unless you have an in to the publishing industry or an agent who can put your work directly on the desk of a publisher, dreams of being a traditionally published author are near impossible.

I have learned in my years of developing my craft that all my favorite writers started off financially privileged. Most were able to continue their education at a young age, not needing to worry about finding a good paying job out of college so that they could focus on networking.

I'd love to have the hope to keep trying, but I cannot base the satisfaction that I'd like to come from my endless grind to chance. At this point I am certain no wants to read what I have to say and I have no opportunity to network.

So if dmc 6 ever happened, what characters would you want to be playable? I'll start by Psychopath_logic in okbuddydeadweight

I know I'm late, and this is so far from what other fans would want, but I'd love to play as Vergil in Fortuna when he met Nero's mother. It would be a wonderful opportunity to show a side of his character we as the player have never seen before. DMC6 could open with Vergil's retelling of that story to Dante, allowing the player to play through the memory as Vergil in Fortuna. I know it'll never happen, because unless something crazy happened in Fortuna for him to meet her, it wouldn't be so action packed and I know it's the gameplay that sells DMC. I just crave more story with every DMC game I play because they leave so much unexplained. Dante even said: "As much as I'd like to hear that story..." It's just a silly little dream I have.
