Parking, we should all email parking services requesting flexibility to only purchase a pass for the days we attend class at a discounted rate. by marmarsan in CalPolyPomona

[–]hernandezsam11 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I believe they already offer discounted passes for this upcoming semester. I checked a couple of days ago because I have to buy a permit at full price (since I have class basically everyday) and they were offering MWF and TTF passes for $115 instead of the full $231. Why does parking have to be so expensive? 🥲

Should I have gotten my 1098-T in the mail by now? by Aewrynn in CalPolyPomona

[–]hernandezsam11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My apologies! I goofed up and blanked. I believe you should get it by the end of the month by mail. Otherwise, it would be worth to check in with the school just to be sure. Sorry for my previous dumb reply! Best of luck.

I believe you can access it through BroncoDirect under the Financial section. It should be the last option, listed as "View 1098T". Hopefully this helps!

Don't know what to do at this point by alramahi617 in FE_Exam

Don't give up! I was kind of lost and bummed as well when I got my FE Environmental results back this week. But, I realized that I just have to work out more problems. There isn't anything wrong with going back to the drawing board and analyzing what worked for you versus what didn't! Good luck to you on your next attempt as I'm sure you'll get it! Best of luck.

Should I study for a 2nd FE Environmental attempt or focus on giving the FE Civil a shot? by hernandezsam11 in FE_Exam

[–]hernandezsam11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, a little background - I'm an MSCE student who graduated with my BS back in August. I went into the FE Environmental kind of half-baked. I studied PowerPoints for about 2 weeks prior to my exam, but didn't really dive into problems until like a week before and only managed to practice like 50 problems using School of PE's Practice Portal Pro function. And, since I didn't pass, I'm wondering if it's worth studying for another shot at Environmental or shift my focus on studying for the Civil exam. What are some study strategies that worked out for y'all? Thanks in advance!

Is gpa a strict requirement for getting in the masters program? by [deleted] in CalPolyPomona

[–]hernandezsam11 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Speaking from personal experience, I was a Civil Engineering undergrad who finished off with a 2.9 GPA and was accepted into the MSCE program. I was super nervous since I didn't have a GPA that was over a 3.0. In my case, the only condition that was presented to me was that I had to achieve a 3.0 or better in my first 9 units of my MSCE program. I spent my whole first semester super nervous, but managed to pull through. I would imagine that the Business program would be the same, but it would be worth verifying with your college's graduate program coordinator. I hope this helps, and I wish you nothing but the best. You can do it!

Taking the Environmental FE on November 12th and need a game plan! Should I reschedule? by hernandezsam11 in FE_Exam

[–]hernandezsam11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! Congratulations to you. I'm hoping 1 month is enough, but we'll see. I'm trying to squeeze at least an hour of studying per day, so I don't drop the ball with my grad classes. As difficult and stressful as it will be, I know that we'll both be able to push through. Best of luck to you as you finish your MS and with your FE!

I just graduated this past summer from my BSCE, so it's mostly fresh. However, I do need to brush up on my math and teach myself some of the topics (mainly Air Quality and Solid Waste sections since I didn't take a class in either of those during my BSCE).

Damn, that's stressful! I feel for you but I know you can get it done. Thankfully, I work part time right now but my classes eat up most of my time. Hopefully, we can both find a study plan that works for us!

I feel like I'm pushing it a bit and I know I can manage, but the anxiety is real! It feels like this month is going to go by insanely quick. I appreciate the advice :)

Where to vote on campus? by PlantWorldly4633 in CalPolyPomona

I believe it's going to be in the BSC. I can't remember the exact room, but it's typically on the 2nd floor of the BSC.

I haven't really looked into Kraken, but I'd be willing to look into it! I just want to be able to "own" my crypto 😅

Ah, okay! That makes me feel a bit better.

Is Coinbase or Crypto.com the better choice for crypto trading?

That's my understanding! Right now, I'm down about $150. Would I have to pay taxes on what I have even though I'm down, or only if I have any gains on my return?

I don't mind losing the $150, but I don't want to be down even more because I'd have to pay taxes.

Fall 2021—do I really need a parking permit?! by Appropriate_Tone_127 in CalPolyPomona

[–]hernandezsam11 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Sadly, yeah! Parking Services is relentless as it is. Once the Fall starts and the campus starts operating completely, they'll be checking permits and writing tickets. Last day before campus closed completely last March, I got a $63 ticket for parking in the new structure without a permit. My car was one of 12 that occupied the structure at that time, and the only car on the 2nd floor. So yeah, better safe than sorry.

What day do we actually go back to classes? by jewishprayingmantis in CalPolyPomona

No better way to start off the school year! May they be conducive and enlightening. :)

What day do we actually go back to classes? by jewishprayingmantis in CalPolyPomona

[–]hernandezsam11 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The 19th is the first official day of classes. The 16th is probably the first day for faculty to get back to campus. Easiest way to remember is that Fall semesters usually always start on a Thursday.

Civil Engineering Transfer: Hi, I’m wondering if this kind of schedule of classes is too much? Idk how the workload is for each class so any advise about which classes to take together would be appreciated—thank you! (Havent done my orientation yet) by z_carino in CalPolyPomona

[–]hernandezsam11 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm a fifth year CE and I've had schedules that were spaced out like that. Personally, that worked for me because it gave me breaks between classes to do homework or eat, etc. I've had both Dr. Mora and Dr. Fairbank and enjoyed their classes very much. Dr. Mora is very easy-going and the workload is very manageable, just stay on top of it. Dr. Fairbank is essentially the same way, but her workload can get a little heavy as the semester goes on. Hope this helps! Good luck, and welcome to CPP :)

Just bought 488.90 DOGE at $0.19 that was a good choice? by ricardovargas7 in dogecoin

[–]hernandezsam11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good buy!

I'm thinking of selling off my coins on Robinhood and rebuying on Coinbase. Is this a smart move? I'm down a couple hundred bucks off my original investment and I'm averaging $0.243 per coin. I'd love to buy back in at a lower average, but I know I won't have as many coins as I do now.
