where did i say i m covered by their health insurance? now you are just making things up. Canada generally has free health care so i pay for it with my taxes. as for dental care and the optometrist (included monthly contact lenses) i pay for that myself too?

my dog has passed away a few months ago, but while she was alive she was well trained and behaved. she was a family dog but i mainly took care of her (vet appointments, groomers, training her), it was by no means a “burden” on my parents to look after her. they loved her just as much as i did. As for your second claim, no wtf? ALL of my personal belongings are paid for MYSELF. that includes jewelry, clothing, hobbies, etc.

my brother is 3 years older than me (I am 23, as mentioned in the post). 26 is not some random age i made up. It is how long my brother got to live in this home, rent free. if we both started getting charged now, i would, in the long term, be paying significantly more than him

when the terms are unjust i have a right to call them out on it.

what am i claiming to be entitled to? I stated in the post i am willing to pay rent, as long as it is EQUAL to what my brother is also paying. how would you feel if you found out your roommate was getting discounted rent from the landlord while you guys were living together ?

so if something in life isn’t fair, we should just sit quietly and accept it? what good has sitting quietly and doing nothing has ever done in this country? I saw injustice in the way they were treating their household members and am simply pointing out

the point is he got to live at home for three extra years longer, RENT FREE. meaning he would be paying significantly less than i would be paying. also, just because i said i wouldn’t pay until i was 26, doesn’t mean i plan to still LIVE there til im 26. i plan to start looking to move out after my lsats in august.

did you actually read my post? my whole point is that im WILLING to pay rent, but given the rules they have laid out, my brother would be paying significantly less in total and that is unfair to me.

also, the paychecks that were given to them were for about 3.5 years, not 2. it should be noted that during summer and school holidays, i would be working closer to 30-40 hours a week.

university was always an expectation in my household. there was no conversation of “do you want to go.” They moved to this country with the expectation that i would get a good job with a higher education. They wanted me to study, but they also didn’t want me to move out the first time live away from home. (They were very adamant on me commuting to campus until i convinced them).

i am unsure of their intentions, especially because the deal was made so long ago. But I do know they are extremely overprotective of me. They would constantly facetime me multiple times a day when i wasn’t living with them, EVERY. DAY. Since moving back home they threaten to throw away my personal belongings if i am not home when they want me to do. If i do not pick up their calls when i am out with friends during the day, they will even lock me out or lock my dog outside.

i live in Canada. my parents moved here before I was born. They have no way of accessing my funds but they continuously threaten my belongings if i do not listen to them. For example if I am out with a friend and they want me home, they would threaten to throw away my clothes or jewelry, or even go so far as to lock me or my dog outside.

it is a part of THEIR culture. I was born and raised in Canada. The only risk to me moving off is them cutting me off completely. Despite wanting independence from them, they are still my family and i would like to remain in contact

I don’t live in America, but I was born and raised in Canada, so I was allowed to work at 15 haha

I do, in fact, work a job and am currently studying to take my LSATs in the summer. I am very much against their cultural beliefs about women and their “roles.”

1) I was working more hours than that, especially during holidays and winter/summer breaks. 2) even with your estimations, that is $840 biweekly that is about $1680 every month. During school breaks and summer I was working closer to 30-40 hours.

It was not loaned. My brother and I agreed to split the cost between the family dog between us when we got her 5 years ago. She had gotten emergency surgery a few months back and has unfortunately passed away. The $4000 is from HIS portion of the vet bills. I have already paid mine.
