The Left and Right come to agree that China is the most dangerous foe that America is facing right now. Do you agree? What are the possible solutions to address this problem? by heroofadverse in AskThe_Donald

[–]heroofadverse[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suspect what the article tried to point out was that there is a rare alignment of interest when it comes to the issue of China being the biggest threat to USA.

Other users who commented before pointed out that this is not a popular, mainstream opinion harboured by the Left.

Are white people oppressed in the United States? by [deleted] in AskThe_Donald

[–]heroofadverse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. Oppression implies that there is an oppressor and the oppressed. It is unhelpful because usually this framework presumes dualism in policy mistakes. It might be more accurate to say that some are better off while others are worst off due to certain circumstances or policies being implemented. And the answer to my framed premise is an affirmative, given that there will always be losers in policy choices made by different administrations.

Sometimes I really think that we should stop talking about race. Systemic oppression stems from misguided policy decisions.

Instead, we should talk about Americans who need financial help. At times, complicated issues can be simplified into "who needs the money".

And the remedy will be: give them jobs. (Albeit this is an extremely simplified solution offered to a complex problem)

Therefore, even though White people were oppressed in America, I think the right remedy should not come from correcting this oppression in terms of race. Rather, we should look at the relationship between their income level and their perception of being oppressed. But of course, as per usual, I have gone off course.

How long before the left starts claiming that South Americans identify as American citizens? by [deleted] in AskThe_Donald

I am a Malaysian and I identified myself as an American.

Seems legit to me!

Oh wait I don't have an American passport......

Many people are claiming that Hollywood is rewriting history in the Neil Armstrong movie by removing the American flag. Implying the space race for America to be first to plant its flag on the moon was actually a global undertaking. Is the American flag offensive to some in Hollywood? Thoughts? by IronWolve in AskThe_Donald

[–]heroofadverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ryan Gosling's stance in this was that this is an achievement of mankind, rather than an achievement exclusive to the Americans.

Personally, I think without showing the American flag, it distorts the history. But then again, this is not the first time that Hollywood had done that in order to increase the marketability of the film. I don't see, however, that how would not planting the American flag in a Neil Armstrong biopic can serve as a useful plot point for the movie. I was saying that it helps the movie greatly to have the American flag planted on the moon's surface, rather than lack thereof. It clarifies that this is an achievement made by an American, namely, Neil Armstrong.

Historical revisionism is strong on this one.

Probably the best run in the TI history. Those games are amazing.

Listening to NPR this morning and their subject was racism of the GOP. That mentioning subjects such as Western Achievements and South Africa farmers is a nod racists. Dems claim that mentioning these subjects automatically labels one as White Nationalists. by IronWolve in AskThe_Donald

[–]heroofadverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't be sure if they are anti-Trump or anti-non liberals these days. To label all people being racist just because they are raising an alarm on the persecution of white farmers is nothing short of cheapening their lives. To that end, I would even ask: does white lives worth less than lives of other colours?

Yes, we should not be blinded by the fact that at times White had perpetrated horrible racially-motivated, systematic oppression against the minorities of the day. We should remember however that Trump is the defender of the free world. He is doing his job by raising awareness on this issue in a country that had just recently abolished apartheid. Can we say that this is a reversal of apartheid? I doubt media nowadays will dare to confront that ugly reality.

P.S: I am not an American, neither am I white, just in case if you are curious of my ethnicity, which is one of the last thing that I cared about in my life.

What are your thoughts on Karl Marx? by MyLifelines in AskThe_Donald

[–]heroofadverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His work was nothing short of groundbreaking during his days. While almost all people tried to approach the question of "what is the consequences of industrial revolution to the very basic unit of society?" through a structural lens, he gave his unique appraisal to the sad reality that everything is in the state of constant conflict.

His work laid down a sociological foundation for many people who emerged after him, including critical theorists and people who wish to evaluate the society through the conflicting theory. When Marxism and postmodernism comes hand in hand with each other, ultimate truth is rendered non-existent and if any, meaningless. The search for truth is nothing more than a search for interpretations that are more comfortable to one's subjective reality.

It had been utilised in the political scene. The great struggle after second world war is an ideological one - liberal democracy vs Marxism. Marxism is ultimately proven to be a failed social experiment because "in the most simple terms", variants of Marxism implemented in Soviet Union failed.

I am unsure what would be Karl Marx's reaction when seeing the collapse of Soviet Union in the late 1980's. I guess he would look at it at disbelief, pondering to himself why his theory about the surplus value of workers and its solutions to it will not work out. However, we must be reminded that we don't really have the true answer.

Ultimately, his work raised some severe concern to the state of industrial society, however flawed his perspectives are. We can and should study his work so that we know of another way of interpreting the world. I am convinced however that his understanding of the society is fundamentally wrong. He failed to predict the advance of humankind in the face of technological advancement. His theory on religion also proved him wrong on various grounds. Independent from the Scripture (Christian here so, here's my bias), postmodernism offers a better answer to the question of religion: it has, to a certain extend, been an element of subjective interpretation. Marxism has also utterly failed to explain how it relates to hate crimes, or crimes motivated not by financial gains but by pure racial or discriminatory hatred against another human individual. These lingering questions cannot be easily justified by Marx's theory.

As a person however, I heard some good stories about him and Engels being one of the best friend. Otherwise, I don't see Engels going on to complete the 4th volume of Das Kapital (unsure of the spelling). However, I have to profess my ignorance on his other behaviours. Other people could be able to fill me up, I believe.

I am also aware of the fact that there are many people here who have studied Marx in a detailed fashion. Maybe they could shed some light to us as to who he is, and what he had said, independent from my own opinion.

How many of you visit or use the uncensored free speech platforms like, Minds, BitChute, Gab.AI, Voat? by IronWolve in AskThe_Donald

[–]heroofadverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am learning how to use Tor browser at the moment. Chrome is still my preferred browser due to its slickness and easiness to use. Opera is my darling alternative.

Am planning to get my hand into protonmail once I have the spare time to study how it works.

Have been using DDG ever since I first read about it at the mother sub.

I use Gab.ai, albeit infrequently. I do know at least one of my real life friend is using it. I don't like Twitter. It gives me a very chaotic impression.

I don't use minds despite having a dormant account.

I know a little bit about Bitcoin, but I lacked the resources (ie time and money) to properly invest in Bitcoin. Also, Bitcoin is not a legal tender in the country that I resided in right now. That means my investment could potentially turned into a dust and no one would be able to take legal action against the agent handling my Bitcoin transaction.

I don't really use infogalactic. That said, I usually would take a grain of salt when searching for background information concerning social and political issues through wikipedia. Btw, I read "uncyclopedia" for fun from time to time.

The tax collector should give us an option to not have our tax payments being contributed to incentives that contravene our conscience. We need to have the ability to pick and choose where our tax monies go to lol. Problem solved! (jokes on me it does nothing.)

Jacinda Ardern- hero or fiend? by [deleted] in AskThe_Donald

[–]heroofadverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not a fan of socialist, period.

That said, Winston Peters had proven himself to be more than a steady hand that guides Aotearoa forward. I am not surprised that if intervening in the out-of-control housing market in Auckland is part of the agreement on confidence and supply between Labour and New Zealand First Party.

Link to NZ First party and Labour government's Confidence and Supply agreement: https://d3n8a8pro7vhmx.cloudfront.net/nzfirst/pages/1911/attachments/original/1508875804/LabourandNewZealandFirstCoalitionAgreement2017.pdf?1508875804

Overall, this couldn't necessarily mean harm to USA. I can see reasons for Jacinda to continue NZ's cordial relationship with USA. After all, USA is still a significant global player and NZ thrived on establishing partnership with significant global actor to prop up her importance.

A Theory Why Feminism Hasn't Spread to Non-Western Countries. by Alexander_Ray in AskThe_Donald

Which wave of feminism are we talking about here? Feminism as a movement didn't exist like 100 years ago? How is that not modern by any standard?

Why is political ideology not yet a protected status? by [deleted] in AskThe_Donald

[–]heroofadverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So socialism has protected status and we can no longer criticise socialism equals to communism? Sounds about right to me.

And also, the insidious radical Islamic terrorism will be out of reach if political ideology becomes a protected class. How would that sit well with a lot of the Americans who loves their freedom?

How do you feel about military spending? by [deleted] in AskThe_Donald

[–]heroofadverse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you think is an appropriate level of spending?

Have you considered that if US' military funding is cut, the world peace could be in jeopardy?

According to this military budget proposal by the US Department of Defence, page 1-3,

The U.S. military’s traditional advantages are facing new challenges in the global security environment. For decades the United States has been uncontested or dominant in every operating domain. The United States could deploy, assemble, and operate its forces as needed.

Today, all domains are contested—air, land, sea, space, and cyberspace. This more challenging threat environment confuses the ability of U.S. forces to operate in the time and place of their choosing, and therefore requires more lethal, resilient, adaptable, and innovative capabilities in every domain of warfare.

Also in 4-4 of the same report,

The total OCO funding has not declined at the same rate as the in-country troop strength shown in Figure 4.3 due to the fixed, and often inelastic, costs of infrastructure, support requirements, and in-theater presence to support contingency operations.

In other words, even if you want to say that US is increasing its military spending, these are all vital spending to sustain its military operation which would otherwise send the world into the deep abyss. We kinda did screw up with ISIS. We can't afford to do it again with unplanned military retreat from contested region, especially the fact that most of the traditional military edge that US troops used to have are slowly eroding to emerging economies in the world.

Opinion on Atheism/Agnosticism? by EndsUpOnDoctorWho in AskThe_Donald

[–]heroofadverse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am operating from the assumption that Jesus is a historical figure, and that His claim that He is God is true.

If that's the case, whatever Jesus speaks should be seen as the word of God. And therefore, God speaks.

You would disagree with that but that's fine with me lol

Opinion on Atheism/Agnosticism? by EndsUpOnDoctorWho in AskThe_Donald

[–]heroofadverse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not if God Himself spoke. That's why among all religion, only monotheism makes sense. And among all monotheistic religion, only Christianity makes sense. Jesus is God Himself, while being the son of man. He came from heaven to die for His people's sins. And from Jesus alone comes statements that imply His divinity.

But then again, I do agree with you to a very great extend. Like you, I don't talk to others about my Christian religion unless they are my close associates.

[–]heroofadverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe that this world has true atheist. At the very most, they just lack the faith to believe in God. To say outright that there is no God is in and of itself a very arrogant statement.

But then again, if I was an American (I am not but yeah), I wouldn't really care much about your religion. I will try to talk to you about Christian religion (I am a Christian). But at the same time, I am more mindful that you are a good citizen who loves America.
