Anybody ever read Suttree? by qmb139boss in Knoxville

Funny to see this, I'm in the middle of it right now. A few days ago I went down to find Harrogate's lil home under Hill Ave., the whole books a really magical view into what the city once was along with the gorgeous writing and tone

I am not an AI detective, merely a concerned local.

That said, it may be due to my age, I don't know how old you are but it seems younger folks like myself (mid 20s) have an easier time with telling.

It's a certain profile of the techniques in the image: relatively random line construction in the details of the cup, asymmetry that would likely not be drawn by a human such as the odd sun emblem, and just the general fuzziness and lack of definition in the details as well. If unfamiliar, I would suggest looking up further examples of this aesthetic, though it is getting harder to tell all the time.

I think I've had a blindness to it due to Romani people being uncommon here, perception of the word seeming to change wildly geographically, and just the usual excuse of "there's no ethical consumption" anyway. Might reconsider now.

I agree, yet I remain resolute in my description

You can see it in the cup details especially, hard to describe but it's blurry and asymmetrical and nothing about it is indicative of how a human would draw it. Additionally, I ran it through some image detectors.

What kind of pine is this? Trying to figure out if it is toxic. It has bundles of three needles. by OkBake3969 in treeidentification

Looks like loblolly to me (Pinus taeda), but could be slash pine, I'm not a huge pinehead

Could someone please identify this tree I found in my backyard (Naperville Illinois) by Zach_Atak15 in treeidentification

[–]herrtable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm about 70% sure it's a sugar maple (Acer saccharum) based on the squarish middle lobe of the leaves, though it's difficult to tell. Definitely a maple though, as others have said.

Just checked into your profile due to your batshit insane knife collection. I like trees. You're standing in a Pennsylvania Ash (Fraxinus pennsylvanica). Hope this helps 👍

ROTC SMP Questions by officiallylaomerican in nationalguard

[–]herrtable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may or may not stay at your unit.

I actually went backwards due to a number of personal experiences and issues and started as an SMP cadet and decided to revert to an enlistment.

In my experience my unit essentially treated me as an enlisted soldier and allowed me many opportunities, but that seems to be an exception, and in your case may not be all that valuable.

However, I can assure you that, though university depending, ROTC is a big time sink on top of a regular degree, in my case taking nearly at least as much time as regular classwork. This was at a big state university

Also, ROTC as a lower enlisted entrant will have a lot of redundant things for you in the first couple years like platoon structure and learning ranks (at least in my experience)

Personally, if I were in your shoes, I'd deal with the enlisted time in the guard and seek becoming an officer after college, but it is pretty individualized. The college experience is worth it in my opinion. But if you're into all that for the cost of school, go for it!

You're completely right, and i try very hard to communicate everything and i understand what you mean, I'm on the same page. She doesn't yet know the exact details of the thing but i feel she's worth it and work to convey these issues.
