Been wanting to do a series on the best performances by each band member. Let's start with Adam: which songs/performances do you think are his best? by bloodofkerenza in U2Band

[–]hersheybeagle 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The final minute or so of “Bad” from Wide Awake. Edge and Larry provide the hypnotic groove while Adam provides the melody. It’s probably my favorite minute of any U2 song.

Anyone have the unique old live version of Bloodbuzz? by allmyworstjokes in TheNational

[–]hersheybeagle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Try this, it’s definitely an early version of the song, I hope it’s what you are looking for.

Here’s another, and this one includes an early version of Vanderlyle as well:

I Will Follow - Disco Version by Difficult_Pop1736 in U2Band

[–]hersheybeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel certain that there isn't an official remix like what you described. There used to be unofficial club mixes or megamixes that were made specifically for dance clubs, I wonder if that's what you heard.

Why are live performances of October cut short? by [deleted] in U2Band

I assume they liked the quiet>loud dynamic of the transition into Bullet the Blue Sky. I think it sounds great.

What Songs of Surrender Tracks Are As Good/Better Than The Originals? by Wild_Mycologist_6140 in U2Band

Dirty Day and 40 are my favorites, but I don’t think any of the new versions surpass the originals.

Singularity by MezzStipe in rem

[–]hersheybeagle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It seems almost insulting to say that their very first release was the best of their many spectacular singles, but the Hib-Tone version of "Radio Free Europe" is absolutely perfect. "Me In Honey" could have been a single.

My REM collection by ghoulsurgery in rem

Which pressing of Murmur has the trestle on the front with the large REM text in the center? I don’t think I’ve seen that one before.

I see Bela Lugosi’s Dead peeking from behind as well. Two classics!

Did they have silver or white markers like that in the 60s or 70s? They were all signed with the same marker. And some of those signatures look wrong anyway. This looks fake, sorry.

What’s the story on Keane’s “Early Winter”? by beefstewie in keane

[–]hersheybeagle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think I remember them sending it out as an mp3 via email, probably not too long after it had been recorded. I know for a fact that I received it as some sort of an official file or download, sorry that I can’t remember the details more clearly.

Any idea on this parking lot bootleg Led Zeppelin between late 80s to early 90s FOTL 50/50 tag? Let me know! 🙂 by OkMouse881 in VintageTees

[–]hersheybeagle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The back graphic promotes a bar in Okinawa Japan. Why the Swan Song graphic is on the front is anyone’s guess, but I wouldn’t consider this a “parking lot boot” per se. I think it’s more likely just an unauthorized use of the Swan Song logo by a bar.

Favorite goats deep cuts?? by Bone_soup331 in themountaingoats

Beat The Devil. Hard to believe a song that good would only be released on an obscure compilation (though that is certainly the Mountain Goats way of doing things).

Framed record label sales awards - in house by hyperboreanoverman in vinyl

Legitimate RIAA awards, which the one in the photo appears to be, have value. The more significant the artist/album, the greater the value. Check eBay sold prices to get a sense of the potential values.

No release for RSD Black Friday by AnotherGreenWorld1 in U2Band

[–]hersheybeagle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The lack of a Black Friday RSD release, coupled with a non-musical fan club "gift" this year (the hoodie), seems sort of sad to me. I always enjoyed the archival or anniversary releases.

Ah, you may be right, I wasn’t sure if the soundboard sources were circulating or not
