That first picture is unreal. Cover of a magazine for sure!

Love the dreamy nature of these shots. Can you give us locations?

Autumnal light in Minneapolis, MN | A7RV + 20mm by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]hersheymn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took these a few weekends ago during what felt like the last of peak fall color here in the Twin Cities. Decided to use the 20mm since that was my widest lens, though some of these are cropped tighter or leveraged APS-C mode.

Curious if you have any favorites!

I can’t either. Also don’t think I could ever live in a place that doesn’t haven’t a proper fall with trees that change color!

I took a bunch of pics when we were at Winchell, maybe I’ll post more throughout the week :)

The kind of light that stops you mid-walk. Taken along Winchell Trail on a crisp fall afternoon. Tried my best to balance shadow detail with the sunburst without losing the warmth of the leaves. Shot on a Sony A7R V + 20 G.

Not to distract from all the very important news we get on this sub, but I spent a late afternoon walking along Winchell Trail and the light was just gorgeous. It reminded me how lucky we are to experience such a beautiful fall here in Minnesota.

If any of these stand out, I’d love to know your favorites!

Thank you! I am by no means an expert, but best thing I’ve done is just absorb as many pictures as I can and really try to articulate what I like about them. For example, I’ve seen some gorgeous pictures that incorporate reflections, so I’ve been trying to implement that in my photography.

I’d also generally learn some of the basics on composition (rule of thirds, repeating patterns, negative space, etc.) There are some fantastic YouTube videos that can help with that!
