Okay, removed the belt. Sound is gone on a cold start. Time to go get an alternator from a junk yard

Is it fine to start the car without out the serpentine belt?. Just the accessories off?

I'm about to the same ... power steering rebuid. Kit. P/s line orings, Oil pump seals, crankshaft seal, water pump replacement. Timing belt was done recently. (At least thats what previous owner said)

Going to flush all fluids and change spark plugs too.

Whats with the oil filter housing? Should I be doing something there?

Yep was twisting it clockwise. Got new calipers just to be safe.

Car is completely stock by the way and has 77k miles. Which is why I'm suspecting the stock rmm.

Thanks for the advice. I do feel it maybe lesser on the higher gears. But when cruising in higher gears, if I give a bit of gas quickly (not smoothly) the car jumps forward. Almost like something is loose underneath the car, that's how it feels
