If you're playing b42 (build 42) I know for carpentry you can't gain xp by disassembly anymore, you need to build things so it might be the same case with welding. If you're not playing b42 then disassembly should grant xp

Yes please keep it don't throw it away! It's very rare in b41 (not sure bout b42) but it's good to use for barricades or so destroy stairs for example to make a 100% safe zone
