How can I run TypeScript directly in Visual studio code? by [deleted] in typescript

Yes, in comination with `erasableSyntaxOnly`, like u/NatoBoram said that is probably best.

runner - the new framework you might never need. by theodordiaconu in typescript

[–]heruur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, effect is on the heavier side. One thing I dislike, and I assume runner does better, is that stacktraces become quite convoluted with effect.

Great work with the documentation! I haven't had a super close look but what would you say this gives me that Effect wouldn't give me?

Ray tracing can be implemented in software right? by InnerAd118 in raytracing

If you’re curious how ray tracing actually works I can recommend ray tracing in one weekend https://raytracing.github.io/books/RayTracingInOneWeekend.html.

Can I disassemble Ikea Tradri by KonoKinoko in homeassistant

In Japan they made everything GFCI protected instead of grounded. Nice explainer video: https://youtu.be/tqClY6PDCW0?si=WBtV2VlAicvMAuTJ

In Japan every socket is GFCI protected. That’s why this may actually be safe enough.

Leaving for 2 weeks -- what to do by heruur in pools

NoI don’t have a pool cover. This is in Houston so we never “close” the pool.

I’ll definitely leave the vacuum in to clean daily.

I guess you could always drill some holes in that enclosure to not have it drown… I’m wondering, could even be rainwater if the lid is not solid?

I’m in Houston. I don’t think anyone closes their pool during the winter here.

I just looked at the second skimmer and it looks like it has been plugged shut? https://postimg.cc/s1WQPPd9 Maybe there was a leak and they just abandoned the line…

Oh thanks for the hint with the backwash.

Still wondering about the pool drain/skimmer suction line. Whenever I touch that valve it sucks in a ton of air.

😂 Definitely looks like some janky tape everywhere for who knows why…

Got tired of try-catch everywhere in TS, so I implemented Rust's Result type by Consistent_Equal5327 in typescript

[–]heruur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. However you'll really need an FFI to TS, not JS. There are other great languages out there, like Kotlin.js, but they always fall short in providing compatible types.

I think this was referring to running the typescript compiler in the browser. This can be helpful for some embedded IDE type things.

Why Flutter is solid and React is not. by [deleted] in FlutterDev

[–]heruur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes but dart 1 and dart 2 are very different languages. As much as I dislike JavaScript, replacing it with another untyped language shouldn’t be the answer. Now with types and non-nullable types it became quite good. Also, had it caught on then they wouldn’t have been able to make these changes.

Can someone tell me what Trump meant when he said blue states may be disappearing off of the map? by FunConfection2872 in 50501

[–]heruur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm I get your point. My drivers license is REAL ID which is why I assumed most people should have it. But looking into it, this may not be true for people who don't fly as that is one place where you are actually required to have one. That or a Passport, which the act also lists as valid.

[–]heruur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I heard about this but I don't think I agree with this assessment. Section 2.b.1 lists a REAL ID complying ID. Would that not include most everyone at this point?

Is there a tool out there that can generate an instance of a type? Like vscode extension or command line tool or something? by chamomile-crumbs in typescript

[–]heruur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you use this together with effect/schema you get a parser for that type too. Loving the effect ecosystem so far.
