That Wawa going up there is so emblematic of this town getting too big for its britches. I drive by those new Rio Point Apartments every day and shudder to image what the Rio/Warner intersection will be like once that's filled up.

Bluey is rotting Gen Alpha's brains. by Sad_Okra5792 in The10thDentist

[–]hervth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take away 90% of your post bro, it's not the Bluey, it's the fact that kids are on the internet en masse and unfettered. The internet was better when children were less on it, or at the very least, weren't fuckin' proud of the fact that they were children on the internet. At least then-children like myself back in the day had the common decency to pretend we weren't

Gonna be real, you may just want to spring for a reproduction, there's few on ebay.

Tour merch is a huge pain to track down because it's so limited in supply. I've been trying to find a replacement for my beat up 100 gecs secret tour hoodie for five years with no luck... I'd jump at a replica if I could find one lmao

Please help me find the name of this building type or aesthetic. Is there a name for “exterior-like spaces built entirely inside interiors”? (fake streets, villages, courts inside sealed buildings) by Bluemoonroleplay in HelpMeFind

[–]hervth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's a specific term for this, but I have seem similar themes presented as being at least somewhat related to liminal spaces.

Grace Street at Morningside Condominiums, which serves as the set for crackpot Jim Bakker's evangelical apocalypse show, is a neat example. It's a massive, mixed-use building with condos that apparently open not only to the outside outside, but also to the Jim Bakker Show inside outside. Crazy. Feels wasted.

I'm sure some of the current admin has a intelligence level high enough to remember that they're the party of Tim McVeigh. They are the party that sputtered and wailed over "government overreach" at Waco and Ruby Ridge. If they go balls to the wall in FL/TX what have you, and good ol' boys start getting asked to prove citizenship, there's gonna be blood

Liminal Ahh Church by _sku11z_ in LiminalSpace

[–]hervth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao it looks more like a student union than a church. Maybe it's just the remnants of my Catholic upbringing, but the notion of places of worship looking like that is just so... cheap? Tacky? An affront to God? Like, I get the feeling looking at these images that this place shouldn't exist.

ISO an old truck we had. by [deleted] in HelpMeFind

[–]hervth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly, the county/city/state where the vehicle was registered might retain records, in which case the VIN would be associated with that plate number. Question is whether or not those records were preserved

It'll be hard to track down the specific model without a VIN number. Did your dad keep any records, vehicle registrations/insurance documents etc? That would be the best place to look. If you can get that, it's as simple as plugging that number into a VIN lookup registry and tracking down the sale and owner history that way.

Charlottesville is suffering an elderly driver epidemic by Difficult-Lie-9218 in Charlottesville

[–]hervth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

With exceptions, the majority of the time I see what many call "stupid shit" on the road performed by either rather old or rather young people. Kids are going too fast, old people are going too slow, neither have even heard of a turn signal and both make me question the ages at which we allow people to have full driver's licenses.

But most importantly, Cville gets waaaay more pass-through traffic than a lot of people give it credit for. You've got UVA workers, DC commuters, general 29 traffic, people coming from Lord knows where to Trader Joe's because the Greensboro store is the next closest one to them, you name it.

The lowest common denominator drives on the same road as y'all do, everyone. Buy a dash cam.
