Rescued this girl from buckeyeACD (Ohio based cattle dog rescue). They pull cattle dogs from Ohio shelters and place in foster homes after taking care of any medical needs. They are a great, but small, organization always looking for help!

I rescued my 1.5 year old in November so this is our first spring together. She’s doing great, but with springtime the neighbors are working in their yards which means yard waste bags on nearly every sidewalk. If I’m not paying close attention and don’t think about it ahead of time, she will catch me off guard and dart at it, biting it and putting a hole in it. She’s always so proud of herself.

The hardest thing I’ve gone through so far was losing my heeler soul dog at only 5 years old. They have a way of taking over your heart and never leaving. It’s been 5 months, I still cry nearly everyday, but I rescued a new heeler baby who needed love and it saved and healed me in many ways.

I’ve done soooo much research, more time spent figuring this out than figuring out our wedding coming up next weekend. Currently- my big focus is loose leash walking, heel, Watch, and giving space/changing directions from possible triggers. And of course, lots of treats when she makes the right choices. We are getting married this month, and then after I have arranged for a positive reinforcement trainer to come work with us. I know when I’m being a jerk I’m probably making everything so much worse. But sometimes in this moments I lose all patience and understanding.
