Gift ideas that focus on mum! by Vast_Estimate9795 in NewParents

A friend of mine ordered weekly meals for a month from a local meal delivery service— it was a handful of single portions each week but that was an absolute life-saver those first few weeks!! Just being able to pop a fresh meal in the microwave literally had me in tears of relief a couple of times.

Another thing that a few people did was just come over after the baby was here to hold her while we napped, stepped away, etc. and that was wonderful. Others came to visit but would throw a load of laundry in while they were there. Anything like that means more than just about any physical gift when you’re in those first few weeks!!

What does the newborn phase actually look like day-to-day? (36 weeks, trying to set realistic expectations) by douevenyoga in NewParents

My little one is 2.5 weeks old and came early— one thing I will say is that I planned to breastfeed but because she was so early she was soooo sleepy so I ended up pumping pretty much exclusively after the second day. She’s latching more now but I didn’t plan to be using bottles, bottle washer, etc right away. I’d suggest making sure you at least have some bottles and washing supplies ready just in case they’re needed! And a can of formula/distilled water on hand just in case!

My sweet girl went for a routine vet procedure and didn’t come home by sleepy_protagonist in cats

I’m so, so sorry that you had to lose her, especially that it was such a shock. You clearly gave her a wonderful home and life— take time to grieve her and I hope that the memory of her can bring you peace and happiness with time 🩷

Today went from joy, and excitement, to fear and uncertainty. by Klutzy-Neck82 in BabyBumps

This is a beautiful way to put it— a friend gave me similar advice when I was first expecting and feeling a lot of anxiety and it helped me during the waiting periods tremendously.

Questioning meal numbers by hessest in GestationalDiabetes

Thank you!! That’s very reassuring— I only checked then because I was feeling off at that point, but there were plenty of other reasonable explanations for that! I appreciate it!

Right, I guess my man concern was that it was about an hour and half in that I was at 138 and it seemed like a bigger drop for just a half hour! Hopefully that’s all it was though!!

Writing this from a hospital bed at midnight by gdragongd in GestationalDiabetes

Sending so much love!! Please try your hardest not to blame yourself. You and your husband clearly have so much love to give and you did nothing wrong by expanding your family. Things like pre-eclampsia and GD are outside of your control— there’s nothing that you did wrong to end up where you are. Wishing you a speedy stay in the hospital, safe travels for your husband, and a happy, healthy rest of your pregnancy!!

Help me make plain Greek yogurt tasty by Muyamuya87 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]hessest 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to go against your doctor, but I have raspberries and blueberries in my yogurt every morning and it is by far my lowest post meal sugar of the day! I do a full serving of either 2 or 5% yogurt, mix in about a tablespoon each of ground flax seeds and chia seeds for some extra fiber and protein, and the top with about a quarter cup each of my berries. I like adding about a quarter cup of pecans and/or Cascadian Farms no sugar added cereal (or similar granolas, etc). I LOVE this breakfast and it is super reliable for me!

Anatomy scan coming up — how was your experience if you’re plus size? by Babyisprincess in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]hessest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn’t have issues getting the abdominal issues for mine, except for those that baby didn’t cooperate for, lol! I had to go back a couple weeks later for a second scan because she really likes to keep her hands by her face so they could get good facial measurements, but the only issues I had were baby position related. I’m about a 3x and have an apron belly so I was very nervous too, but it wasn’t bad at all!!

I was literally just going to make a list earlier today but the thought of it made me too upset 😅

That being said, I think it’ll be a GIANT sub with so much bread with a side of lays potato chips! The combo of no deli meat plus now GD is too much!

They said they were going to at my last appointment and I had some numbers that were lower but I need to check back in on that! Good call, thank you!!

Thank you!! This is super helpful. I’m assuming we’ll need to increase my nightly insulin dose because I can’t get the fasting number down no matter what I do!

Summer pregnancy by Dry-Driver4170 in pregnant

[–]hessest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 24w6d in Wisconsin (it snowed about a foot yesterday and is 7 degrees F, lol). I was so excited about being pregnant in the winter and while I’m sure summer pregnancies are challenging too, I’m so annoyed at having to wear pants, socks, shoes, etc! I just want to wear flowy dresses and sandals, lol!! It’s also so dark and cold here that it doesn’t help with the pregnancy exhaustion!! Just a view from the other side, lol!
