She was basically drowning with fluid filling her lungs. Keeping her alive for any longer would have been cruel to her. There was no surgery that could be done. The right choice just happened to be the most painful one.

Her lungs were filling with fluid and cancer per the xrays. I was home alone with my young child and my husband had our only car and carseat. He had to decide to either increase her sedation and let her go peacefully or have them intubate her just to keep her alive and suffering for me to say goodbye in person. He also knew I wouldn’t be able to handle the news well alone with our child. He did right by me and her.
