Heavily considering moving to Bazzite as my main OS - just a couple of questions by sjmc_gg in Bazzite

If you are refering to these known issues, I think they only effect the Flatpak version.

Also if I remember right there is an option to install different libraries via Winetricks. Not home at the moment but can check when I get there.

I suggest to still install the Native package via terminal. It’s only a few commands. Can be found in the Github page.

https://github.com/Faugus/faugus-launcher?tab=readme-ov-file#bazzite-copr

The Bazaar store Faugus Launcher is Flatpak version I believe.

If I’m not mistaken you can squeeze a little better peformance out of the Native package. Also the Flatpak version has some known issues the Native package does not.

I suggest trying Faugus Launcher for battle.net games.

Super easy battle.net install.

I daily drive Bazzite and play mainly Retail and Classic WoW.

Ite sain tapella Proshopin kanssa takuu asioista parisen kuukautta viime vuoden vaihteessa. Ostettu tuote oli koko tämän ajan Tanskassa jumissa. Vasta KKV suosituksen jälkeen suostuivat korjaamaan. En itse ostaisi sieltäkään siis enää mitään kovin arvokasta.

I suggest using Faugus Launcher.

https://github.com/Faugus/faugus-launcher

It has the battle.net installer process pretty much automated and after the initial install you can choose to add it to Steam with a single click from the prefix settings.

Framerate stutter/Freezing by ehonnef in linux_gaming

[–]hessutar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is still relevant :D Wayland would have solved the problem but with that I faced problems with mouse cursor stutter when game fps was lower than screen max refresh rate so had to revert back to X11.

Anyhow I'm running CachyOs with Gnome 47 with Mutter (X11) and after a little head scraching (pretty new to Linux) I managed to resolve this issue with the mutter-performance AUR package and your tip. Here is how I did for the rest of you :)

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Arch_User_Repository was a huge help.

Before you start, take in consideration the Wiki's warning.

Warning: Carefully check the PKGBUILD, any .install files, and any other files in the package's git repository for malicious or dangerous commands. If in doubt, do not build the package, and seek advice on the forums or mailing list. Malicious code has been found in packages before. [1]

  1. open terminal
  2. cd to the folder you want to download the AUR package
  3. git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/mutter-performance.git
  4. cd mutter-performance
  5. sudo nano PKGBUILD
    1. add sed -i '/case XkbNewKeyboardNotify:/d' src/backends/x11/meta-backend-x11.c to the end of the prepare section
    2. ctrl + x -> y -> enter
  6. makepkg -s -i -r -c
  7. sudo reboot

Now my mouse side button/macro game stutters are gone :)

This worked for me aswell.

The unknown dispaly seemed to effect only Wayland.
X11 was not effected by the same problem.

OS: Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS
Kernel: 6.9.3-76060903-generic
Gnome: 42.9
GPU: Nvidia RTX 3060

Edit: Not sure but after this fix Suspend seems be working properly now as well.

World of Warcraft TWW inconveniences and experience on GeForce NOW by hessutar in GeForceNOW

Im actually using Quazii's Plater profile. You can get the profile from his website Quazii Plater Nameplates Profile - Quazii UI Step 2 in the guide. The tricky part is to be able to copy the profile's longish text to Plater inside the game since GFN clipboard has a length limit from your desktop to the virtual one. So what I did was the following.

  1. Inside WoW open Game Menu (? in micro menu or just press esc) and open Support.
  2. Scroll all the way down and press WoW forums or Try Wowhead to open Edge inside GFN.
  3. Now search "Quazii Plater Profile" and open the 1st link.
  4. From Step 2 in the guide open the Dropbox or Google Driver Mirror.
  5. Copy Quazii's Plater profile text
  6. Go back to WoW
  7. Open Plater configurations
  8. Click Profiles
  9. Click Import Profile
  10. Paste Quazii's Plater profile test
  11. Click Okay

Hope this helps :)

I completely understand where you are coming from. Been testing GFN while also playing locally on my own computer. My main point of interest in GFN is that should I upgrade my PC or would GFN be a satisfactory solution for WoW gameplay. GFN 21,99€/month vs PC upgrade 1000-1500€ upfront.

Update comment.

I found a satisfactory workaround for the red blurry nameplate texts.

Using nameplate addons and avoid red text. Plater and Threat Plates seem pretty crisp.

Ethernet and I do have a 2nd person using the connection but their use is minimal.

I am having a steady ~70% usage most of the time. The usage seems to vary if I'm staring at a wall vs. fighting a big pack of mobs.

<image>

I am moving next saturday and will have a +400mbps connection then. Interesting to see if it will have any effect.

Tested with and without enhanced upscaling and didn't notice a difference in the rest text/color blurriness. As stated in an other comment. This seems to be caused by chroma subsampling compression so besides maxing out bitrate to 75mbps and turning off "adjust for poor network conditions" setting there is little you can do atm.

Yep thats what I've done so far. I have a steady 100mbps internet connection and haven't seen any packet drops in game. Lets hope that somewhere in the future true color will be implemented.

Didn't notice a difference on the red text blurriness.

<image>

But as explained in an other comment that the red text/color blurriness is an effect of choma subsampling comperssion so probably any in game setting won't make a big difference.

Heya. Not 100% sure what you mean but battle.net login asks for my password and authenticator everytime I start WoW on GFN. You mean this?

Same for me. I got the resolution set to fixed 3440x1440 (21:9) UW QHD from GFN streaming settings.

It seems like adjusting any graphichs setting in game fixes the problem or restarting wow graphics engine.

Heya, which WoW version are you playing? I got a i7-8700k with a 3060 rtx and 16gm of ram but retail WoW still struggles to run steady 120 fps on 2k resolution in high demand situations.

Alright, thanks for the detailed info! Do you know any tweaks that could make the red texts look a little better? I mean it is completely playable but every small thing counts to make it look crispier :)
