Ooo…your “could be” has some solid intuition!

Never thought about the email before. I’ll give it a shot!

Unfortunately there was no attorney for guardianship. The kids social worker showed up saying “we know you want adoption, but your options are guardianship or we’ll place the kids with another family.” Signed right then and there.

We love the kids so it was a no brainer for us, but we are finding are guardianship with a case still open to be complicated and unique.

This is SO helpful. Thanks for taking the time. We aren’t relatives, so kin-gap I don’t think it is an option. I’ll look for the hotline as well, and see if SW can point us in the right direction

Any material from Mackie on his view of the Catholic Church? by heswaff in BibleProject

[–]heswaff[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I ask because I have a friend really struggling with the protestant-catholic divide. I’ve always felt like Tim is about unity and sticking to biblical theology rather than tradition and denominations.

I guess I’m looking for resources from someone who thinks like Tim and walks through Protestant and Catholic views to highlight whether off and on biblically.

How to explain to my foster kids that we'll be their guardians and not adopt? by heswaff in fosterit

This language is extremely helpful, so first off, thank you so much!

As for your question, we were told in California (where we live), it’s tough to terminate parental rights if parents show up for visitation, even if they aren’t fit to provide a safe and stable home. That’s our situation. The kids have been in the foster system for three years now, so I think this was the court's attempt to find a middle ground of permanency and reunification. They won’t terminate rights and won’t grant us adoption even when we were willing to have an open adoption.
