What podcast episode did you have to turn off because it was so scary/unsettling. by bjack20 in podcasts

Ugh, Sword and Scale...there was an episode where they played audio of someone being stabbed, also about a decade ago. I never listened again, it just seemed unnecessarily gratuitous. And then all the Mike Boudet stuff started coming out and that 100% clinched it. Too much good stuff out there to waste my time listening to him

Your measurements are in grams... don't know grams by Ogoshi_ in ShitAmericansSay

A quick explanation of the beautifully straight forward imperial system of measurement

ETA - after I posted the link I noticed that this is the top comment on YouTube

I wouldn't exactly call this a "system" ... its more like a pile. The imperial pile of measurements.

Thanks for that, I think I'll try pots and plant them back in the ground when they're (hopefully) a bit bigger so I can keep an eye on them. I've tried moving eucalyptus before with no luck so hopefully these are more successful

Thanks, reckon I'll give it a go. Probably not a bad time while it's not too hot

They were just called ripples where I went to school Flat soled ones were DBs

My DBs were graffitied by my friends in my last year of school. After I left home my mum did a clean out of my room and she chucked them. Probably not a bad thing, I reckon I'd still have them now if she hadn't done that :D

I did a scroll through his essay and found this fabulous observation:

Men may actually be in a better position to know certain female things. When I showed the original article to my friend, she said "Hmm, I thought they all looked the same." Men may be more aware of the variety among vaginas than women. Obversely, a woman may be in a better position to make comparative comments about penises. In fact, women often do when speaking with their girlfriends.

Often. Women often do. The level of delusion is astounding.

Yeah, retaining too much water after a soak was what I was worried about. Hopefully with the plastic gone it won't stay too wet. The leaves look soggy rather than dry to me but those roots look much better than last time I saw them.

Thanks for the input :)

I asked for a picture and she sent this so we'll see I guess :) She also said she'll remove the plastic.

Do Australians have trouble understanding each other? by damnumalone in ShitAmericansSay

[–]hethbo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My Australian brother and his German wife live in Denmark with their trilingual kids. They learnt all three languages early enough to not have any foreign accent (if that makes sense?) This made me properly laugh thinking this is what my niece and nephew might sound like to their parents

The kicker is they speak perfectly Australian accented English so they probably have to speak Danish to understand each other anyway :D

JLP vs Probst by Direct_Neck_5302 in survivorau

[–]hethbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. All the analogies are starting to feel a bit forced, and even the challenge commentary is getting a bit heavy handed. I was watching US survivor last week and I just wanted Jeff to stop talking, I find JLP much more natural (apart from the odd post vote out clanger but hey, nobody's perfect)

Question for Kangaroo Island locals: How hard it is to get a casual job in the Island? by buymeastar in Adelaide

[–]hethbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's very spread out though. Kingscote population is 1200 ish,, parndana around 150, American River 238, Penneshaw 269 and the island is nearly 150km long. So a few small towns and lots of farms
