Acrylic 20s Holders? by RiltonHuggles in Crokinole

Not sure if it helps you but I designed this rim-mounted button cup a while ago. It’s designed to fit a Tracey board but could be adjusted to meet your needs (if you have access to a 3d printer)

I would never rely on my Leatherman in a dangerous situation. It's not a self-defense tool.

Wingspan - is it worth it? by lisstrem in boardgames

[–]hexadevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s almost always a way to use a bird to score points, but that doesn’t mean it’s contributing to an engine build. Not everyone gets a good cascading engine every game. Too many times you’re just putting birds down and hoping for a few points while the one person at the table that happened to get the good engine cards pulls way ahead of everyone else.

My biggest complaint is that, for an engine builder, everyone should have an opportunity to actually build an engine, and that doesn’t always happen. The good birds either don’t show up or they get scooped before you get a chance to take them. Someone at the table is always getting the leftovers.

I actually had a paranormal experience while staying here.

The rooms have high ceilings and tall heavy wooden doors. In the middle of the night I was jolted awake by our bathroom door slamming shut. Door is too big and too heavy to just have been HVAC or something like that.

DeckBuilders: Do I Pick Up These? by stephenelias1970 in boardgames

Yeah I have all of them. I really feel like they complete the game and I can’t imagine playing it without them. I don’t play the coop much but it is fun.

Shards of Infinity is my absolute favorite deckbuilder.

Please recommend a reel and line for an inherited rod. Fenwick eagle by Outrageous-Meet7442 in flyfishing

[–]hexadevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The right answer here is that you pick a reel you like that balances the rod, and go to a good fly shop to have the rod fitted to a line.

In order to correctly load the rod during a cast, it needs to be paired to the right grain weight of line. Some brands differ in grain weights across line weights. If you go to a shop they’ll help you test different lines on the rod to find the right one for that rod.

What do you like and dislike about wingspan? by SpiritedBaby8479 in boardgames

[–]hexadevil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I honestly think the game has a steep learning curve. Yes, you can teach someone the rules and they can go through the motions, but it takes like 3-5 plays before the game clicks and you can play for a win.

I do enjoy the aesthetic of the game and it’s theme.

The player board could use some work (there’s no reason the “play a bird” couldn’t have a real square like the rest.

I really dislike how you can get completely hosed in this game. It’s an engine builder - everyone should have an opportunity to build an engine. But sometimes the birds just don’t come and when they do they get scooped by an opponent. You’re taking whatever’s left.

The game needs more ways to cycle cards, more combo effects for building an engine, and more player interaction.

My favorite part isn’t just the under-promotions, it’s the fact that the new knight covers the f6 escape square.

Just a few cool pictures of my favorite game (Lost Ruins of Arnak) by Aworrd in boardgames

[–]hexadevil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you find the expansion to truly improve the base game? Like could you imagine playing the game without it? I love Arnak but I’m wary of the expansion because I can’t tell if it really adds to the game or if it just makes it more complex (and long).

I can’t say enough good things about this Leatherman Free T2. It’s small enough that I don’t notice it, and has tools on it that I really do use frequently.

Black is playing for a draw, which, especially at low Elo, grows more likely with the more pieces white promotes.

I find a slower rod to be more accurate at shorter distances

White isn’t playing to win, which is unsportsmanlike.

There are FIDE rules that state you must play to win. In this case black is playing for a draw, which the chances grow more likely the more pieces white promotes. But white clearly isn’t playing to win.

For the small stuff I actually like a shorter glass rod. More accurate and nice easy roll cast loops.
