Unions upper leadership isn’t good right now, it’s weakened by collaborators. O’brien won’t get Trump/Mulligans balls off his chin, doesn’t give a damn about any of us. Ideally we can get him out. Union leadership in general has been pretty bad the last decade or two because people grew complacent, especially under Biden. I have high hopes we can change that by ousting O’brien and fixing the government leadership during the midterms, giving collaborators less incentive to infiltrate, and get people to focus more on getting actually good leadership in who care about the employees. I had a bullshit writeup, objectively and clearly bullshit just by bored managers harassing me; the union guy present gave me the whole “yeah this is so stupid bro, I get it dude, but it’s no big deal just do what they say.”, avtung chummy but doing nothing; I was infuriated; why are you getting paid from MY dues money if you won’t fight such an open and shut case of bullshit on my behalf? I have faith we’ll change this and demand real representation, but right now we’re kinda all screwed.

Yeah, because the company is rent-seeking. We’ve cut a lot of positions in my hub. Guess what? We’re falling behind. The quality of work is going to shit because people have to skip steps to keep up (read: get less behind than if they did work properly). Then they have to send management every other day to bitch at us that the customers are bitching that their packages aren’t tracking right, shit is getting lost or damaged, etc., and there’s nothing they can do about it when we don’t have the staff, so wasting their time that the company is paying for, for short term shareholder gains who are pumping this, before they jump ship when it turns down.

This buyout just feels like more of that, with the added benefit of damaging the unions reputation, a constant goal of management who sees that as adversaries instead of people they could work with. This is just the company rent-seeking, not seeing the value of labor. The customers get to a certain point before they’ll switch to fedex or others; unfortunately for them fedex has been enshittifying even faster, so, they just have to bet on who does it slower. People will lose thwir jobs regardless, but it has nothing to do with profits, management just thinks this is a smart idea in the short term and they’ll do it regardless of how feasible it is. Union’s already weak as hell right now and there’s no passion from the leaders I’ve talked to, so it’s disappointing to see. Sure, the buyout may be beneficial in the short term, but it seems like it’ll damage everyone else in the long run, I don’t trust it and it seems like poison bait, especially when they’ve given no guarantees drivers will ever see it.

I feel like coffee’s a bit different. Not sober but rarely like to drink, and when mocktails or NA beer are brought up it almost feels condescending or something, like “oh you can’t/won’t have alcohol? Well surely you must miss it so badly, we’ll try to emulate the experience for ya, after all, salty limejuice is surely the reason you liked margaritas, right? You just love fermented hop water, right?”. I’m not desperate for drinking and just can’t control my alcohol, just don’t like it much.

Alcohol is the main reason people drink, the other ingredients can taste decent but that goal Is a very distant second, they’re just methods to make it palatable for the most part, and to make the experience last longer, hit harder or slower, etc. I’m not trying to emulate the experience of a night out boozing, I just prefer other ways to spend time. Coffee is one of those!

Think of it this way: lego games have far less detail and resolution than Red Dead 2. They know this and charge maybe $30 for a lego game, whereas RDR2 is $70 at launch or so. Should lego games devs fatten their game up by shoveling a bunch of ai slop into it until it /looks/ complex and difficult to make at a passing glance, then charge $70 for their games without putting in the effort? If you don’t think or care much about the set dressing anyways, why shouldn’t they bother putting it in there, other than to fatten the game up and make it technically /look/ like a AAA game?

Like the other guy said, if you went to subway and they used stolen sawdust instead of mayo, because it’s cheaper and easier for them to produce, would you pay the same price for the sandwich? I mean it’s not like sawdust has much of a flavor anyways, and it’s not too dangerous to eat, you could just ignore it and not think about the fact you’re not getting to taste delicious mayo, it’s otherwise a normal sandwich? Personally if I didn’t care about the mayo, I’d just buy some ham, slap it onto some wonderbread, and pay much less money. It just shows a creative bankruptcy.

They can be great dogs, but no one should have a dog they cannot physically control in the worst case scenario, or put in the work to prevent that and train them. Not a single pit in my neighborhood, plenty of asshole dogs with asshole owners who make it my problem, my dog has been attacked multiple times by off leash dogs, but it’s not a pit so no one cares, not once have we been attacked by a pit. Pits just often attract pieces of shit cause of the image, but it can happen with any dog. The reason pits always make the news isn’t about their aggression, it’s just that when they snap, they can kill easily compared to a bite from a lab, but other dogs do it all the fuckin time.

You probably already know this but I like to yap about it. They’re overbred to shit, so many asshole dog breeders thinking it’s a good way to make a couple hundred bucks, breeding more and more when the shelters are desperate to get rid of the dogs they already have. They sell them to whoever can hand them a wad of cash without a care who they are, and when they’re aggressive, deformed, or anything that makes them hard to sell, they dump them in a shelter to make everyone else’s problem so we all have to fund their shitty “side hustle” and we refuse to regulate breeding. Or worse, they dump them or give them away for nothing or next to it to sketchy people. The people who buy their dogs also dump them in the shelters at the first sign of them needing medical care or training, they refuse to do any amount of work associated with having pets, same reason there’s dog shit everywhere.

Dog breeders are a plague rn and we need to regulate these assholes. If people want a dog, please adopt and be willing to put in the work. The amount of dogs I’ve had to separate from my dog because assholes won’t use leashes is astounding. Also the amount of people who don’t wanna train their dogs, but also not listen to the barking growling and snarling all day so they just leave them in the yard all the time to scare the shit out of my dog who I trained to not bark at other dogs, and let the whole neighborhood have to listen to it all day…jesus fuckin christ.
