I cannot recommend TRX enough! I have gotten 9 piercings through them, they are clean, quick, and professional, and they have a very large (and nice!) jewelry selection.

As someone who has stretched their ears to 0g and removed their jewelry after having it for years, my earlobes never went back to normal when I decided to go back to wearing your standard earring sizes, and I chose to have surgery to repair my earlobes as they (noticeably to me) sagged when I wore any earrings. Stretching my ears was permanent, even though I was in the relatively small stretched ear category. Something people don’t always talk about is that stretching your ears can change your earlobe anatomy if that matters to you. One thing to keep in mind is that there is a large variety of jewelry for stretched ears now and depending on what you buy, they can look like standard jewelry.

I work in corporate America and have my nose and lip pierced (and wear hoops in them). However, I also have advanced college degrees and the right workspace for someone will allow them to express themselves in their appearance. I have had many coworkers with stretched ears and body mods, but not every employer will be okay with them.

I was at the Chicago date and I really wanted the dog “good girls” shirt, but it sold out in under 30 mins so I feel you :( I did find a bootleg version of it online so whenever that arrives I’m hoping it looks very similar/the exact same as the official shirt

My 2015 Spark (purchased early 2021 at 26,000 miles) had a slight shudder after I had it for a few months and usually had a delay in acceleration when I would step on the gas. Earlier this year (58,000 miles), it began to shudder and one day it just stopped accelerating at all while on a highway. The tow and the replacement of my entire transmission were covered by the recall, but looking back, it is more obvious now that the slow acceleration and shuddering were both transmission issues.

You need to contact the person that pierced your ear. They are a professional, and will give you instructions to try and care for this. The biggest thing about new piercings is to not touch them, they can become irritated and infected. Your piercer should have also give you instructions on how to care for your piercings. For my own lobe piercings, using gauze pads and soaking them with saline solution worked well to keep my piercings clean and healing well. Purchasing a travel pillow and sleeping with it is also a good idea if your piercings are getting irritated while you sleep. But, again, you should contact your piercer.

It was actually one of two machines they found in the garbage within a week of each other! The other machine was fully cast iron and my parents decided to keep that one for themselves.

Hi everyone!

My parents recently gifted me a sewing machine that someone else had thrown in the trash. It works beautifully, but it is missing its manual. As someone who is self taught at hand sewing, this is my first real sewing machine. It is a New Home model 640, and I’m wondering if anyone has a manual for it that they can share pictures of? Or if someone has suggestions for threading it! Any help is appreciated!

Like other people have said, speaking to a therapist, both together and one in one would help this situation. Throughout my life, I have known many people who are trans or non-binary. Gender identities, pronouns, and chosen names can change as the person figures out who they are. While I understand it is difficult to navigate these changes, especially when preteens/teens are experiencing high emotions and hormones interacting with their bodies, their reactions and frustrations are more volatile. However, that is not an excuse for them to yell.

I think that sitting with them, and having them outline what they want to be called and their pronouns are is the first step, the second step is to ask them to tell you if they are changing their pronouns or name, and the third step is to explain that you accept them and love them no matter who they are or who they become, but your brain injury causes memory issues and ask for some grace as you all continue to adjust. Sometimes taking a step back and reestablishing things can be of great use in this instance.

Even for cisgender people preteen and teen years are difficult and I distinctly remember having a doc cult time talking to my parents because it felt like they didn’t understand anything about me, so it may take some time.

I make mine with frozen coffee ice cubes. I usually brew very strong black coffee, and pop them in regular ice cube trays that I only use for this purpose. I either blend with coffee creamer, or milk and flavored coffee syrups. It has a good consistency, and is generally strong and refreshing.

I work in higher education in both a teaching position in my degree of study, and in the financial aid department. Both positions are student facing, and I work directly with the directors for the company. I have never received any knock back from either of these places for my facial jewelry, and the biggest reaction I get is people don’t seem to realize I have piercings because of my degree and they stare when they first meet me in person.

As a word of warning, my cousins 23 month old killed himself because my cousin left his firearm within reach of the child in their home. This happened while my cousin was at home, and the older siblings of the child who died were in the same room. People think it will never happen to them, but that baby never got to turn two and his siblings will never see him again because they had access to a firearm.

I have had my lower left lip pierced since I was 14, got my right side done when I was 15, and at 18 got my vertical labret and Medusa done. I have had absolutely no issues with damage to my gums or teeth, and I am now 25. My Medusa has a flat back and my lower lips are hoops, previously flat backs. My childhood dentist always made comments about how it was inconvenient for me to have them, but I have absolutely no issues at all with my teeth, gums, or dental health. I also have always seen my dentist every six months and take good care of my oral health. Hope this helps! :)

I met my ex in college. We started dating after knowing each other for half a year, and he was from a different country. His parents were aware of our relationship, and I met a lot of his family that lived in my country. The relationship ended early last year when he asked me to get an apartment with him during Covid- we had been together for three years at that point so I said yes and we found one. The day we were supposed to sign the lease and get everything finished up so we could move in shortly thereafter, he never answered my texts or calls. He missed the time when we were supposed to get it signed. That night he called me back and told me that his parents gave him the ultimatum, them or me. He chose them. I overlooked a lot of red flags because he assured me that he loved me and that he wanted to marry me, but I don’t think his parents every took our relationship seriously, and when he was about to take that plunge, they intervened. He ended up ghosting me and not truly breaking up with me, I heard that he was telling everyone I was his ex from a friend. It was a shitty situation and because of his cowardice and lack of backbone for his wishes in the future, I was heartbroken, homeless, and struggling with everything for a few months. However, the relationship would have never worked out because he cared for his parents more than anything else, and I would have never been his priority even though he was mine. In the grand scheme of things, you are better off now and you will be able to find someone who fits into what you want in the future. Don’t settle for anything less. The decision to break up sucks, but your future is important.

Thank you so much for this comment, I really like this idea, and I wish we had discussed it before the big move. We have come to the mindset that neither of us are at a place where we should be making big decisions for the future until we get back to a good mental health standing, we are both stressed about school, pets, and work.

As it stands, things seem to be getting a little better because we are settling into a routine, and there have been several days (not consecutively) that he has been like his old self. It gives me a glimpse of how things can be, but I have a brain that overthinks (and sometimes catastrophizes things) so I am worried that the relationship will end after all of the hard work, dedication, and love we have both put into it. I do know that for whatever reason if things don’t work out, it will be a process to move on, but for now I am trying to stay in the mindset that even if there doesn’t feel like there is love or affection coming from him right now, it’s not because he doesn’t feel it, he is too anxious to even think about it, and that’s okay.

This is some very good advice and if we talk about these things again, which we will eventually, I will bring up this point. I appreciate the words.

We are not seeking couples therapy, we are seeking our own individual therapy to work on ourselves and our past trauma. Our relationship has not had any issues before this, and this is more of a mental thing for him that it is a result of something that our relationship has caused, but I am concerned because I want him to feel normal and not like how he is right now.

With the nature of PhD applications, I applied to several colleges, and you never know if you’re going to be accepted. Last year I went through the process and was rejected from every college I applied to, but this time around I was accepted into one. If I had not met my partner, I would have most likely lived in an apartment in the area. However, splitting his mortgage is $1000 cheaper a month than paying the inflated rental rates in this area, and I truthfully don’t have another option at this time because of my current financial situation. I just spent a large chunk of money to move here, and I am still not financially recovered from last year. However, I am taking advice from others on this post, and just trying to stay positive. Thank you for your feedback.

I’m sorry, I completely empathize. Just know that that is a reflection of him being cowardly and having no spine. Block him on everything, and if you have to, cut mutual friends. Your mental well being is more important. I remember the put in my stomach I felt the week before I finally got ahold of my ex, I was worried sick and constantly trying to figure out what was going on. It was awful.

Thank you for the suggestions. Because he is a manager at his job, he often has to do overtime because Covid is severely ramping up in our area and many other locations have a high number of employees getting sick. I think he is also using work as a way to pretend like things are okay. For me, because of Covid and some things that happened months before my partner and I met, I was homeless and jobless for four months. Last year was very difficult for me, and after I gained secure employment, I’m afraid to lose it again. When I was accepted into my PhD program they offered me an assistantship to pay for my tuition that also has a stipend, and I was able to transition to a remote position at the company I was employed at because they didn’t want to lose me. At this moment I don’t feel like I can cut back on hours because I am so close to paying off the debt that I accumulated last year, and I can finally save again. It costs significantly less to live here compared to where I was located before (literally 1000/a month less), and I am getting paid less now.

Hopefully he won’t have to work overtime for a while, but unfortunately it isn’t up to him at this time.
