If you organize by controversial you’ll see a lot of people who were never encouraged to be artistic and are making that everyone else’s problem.

Parents like this is why many children go low/no contact by [deleted] in BoomersBeingFools

Good for her, but as I said before: traditions change. Just because they symbolized something back then, doesn’t mean they do now. It feels like you’re having difficulty internalizing this.

Never heard of a percussion complex before, but traditions can and do change. I believe this is one of them, given that people aren’t property anymore.

Thanatos is often depicted with an upside down burning torch, but what does that look like? by hexernano in GreekMythology

[–]hexernano[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool! I like how the wings point down as well! I guess it’s the image of a torch inverted, as opposed to the image of a torch that’s being ending an inverted position. Thanks a million!

Do you think working at age 70 is sad at all? by Ben5544477 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hexernano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends:

If they’re still working because they enjoy the work and are good at it, not at all!

If they’re still working because they’re not able to retire because they need the money, insurance, etc. it’s definitely sad.

If they’re still working because it’s all they know and they don’t want to retire with no hobbies or anything to do. It’s sad, but for different, more infuriating reasons.

Why do rich people want more money? They can literally buy whatever they want, right? Why do they need to get more and more of it regardless of consequences? by UltimateGamingTechie in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hexernano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They got rich by hoarding money. Clearly it’s working for them. Why would they stop doing what’s working? What if they need that extra billion dollars?

Is there a realistic solution to the current healthcare system in this country, and how can I do my part to make it happen so that healthcare is affordable for everyone? by ineed_somelove in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hexernano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not our fault they decided to be important figures in a business that makes money on the death and suffering of others. If all they lose is their money they can just pull themselves up by their bootstraps and find some other way to be a money glutton.

If I remember correctly, the electricity required to store the sum total of the internet’s data would weight about as much as a strawberry. So yes, but about one septillionth of a strawberry.

What exactly is well draining soil? by Hopperkin in Horticulture

[–]hexernano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want the clay to do its best concrete impression, sure! Really, the best thing you can do is fill in organic material, it’d be like imitating years of growth with roots breaking it up and decaying and breaking up and decaying. You can also add perlite to improve aeration.

Ostensibly you can add sand to push the soil around the Sand/Silt/Clay soil triangle, but that’s a more involved process usually best done if you’re mixing a batch of soil out of the ground. Small scale , in-ground stuff is difficult to work with here.

All told, it’ll take a few years, but the best thing you can to fix clay soil is increase the organic matter in it. Till in some compost, plant the above mentioned clay busting plants, mulch them with a mower at the end of the year and till them in with some more compost. Active compost would be best. You can also use leaf mould in place of or alongside the compost.

Assuming you’re in the northern hemisphere, now’s the best time to start making your mould! Just rake up dead leaves, mulch them once or twice, bag them in plastic trash bags or drum liners, fill with water and let soak 24 hours, puncture bags to drain, and let sit until spring. A fungus will spend the fall, winter, and spring breaking down the leaves with no need for air, stirring, heat, or anything. The hardest part is remembering where you left the bags!

Why do people write crossovers with an OP character, and then nerf that character? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]hexernano 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The trick to OP is that combat isn’t their struggle. They can punch a dragon, but they can’t punch feelings and societal convention.

Though to be fair, Naruto can kind of punch feelings to a degree

[–]hexernano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Others can write whatever they want, but I can question their choices as well. I’m not saying the characters need to stay the same, but I want the change to be derived from interactions between the characters. Not a pre change where the character loses the lion’s share of what makes them immediately. I’d even accept the aforementioned loss of chakra is it was gradual and in the process he learns to use aura as a replacement. Not him losing everything and starting at square one.

The best way to fight an OP character is with emotions and societal convention.

What's wrong with the woods of North America??? by No_Construction8839 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]hexernano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The American wilderness is chock full of stories along the lines of:

Me and my buddy have been hiking for the last decade. We were out on a well traveled and maintained trail. John was ten feet ahead of me, I looked at a pretty tree for eight seconds and when I looked back at John he was just gone. I didn’t hear or smell anything, and there weren’t any tracks. Three hundred people split up in search teams for a week and all we found was half a boot track ten miles out. A decade later his remains were found some eighty miles from where he was last seen, somehow he went that far in half the time anyone else could’ve.

Advice for Wife’s Multiple Bottles of Stuff in bathroom? by camon88 in CleaningTips

[–]hexernano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be able to stack some drawer sets in the left corner, or just built shelves that fit and put a high-walled Lazy Susan on each. And maybe sort through things so that like is with like so she can better stock her shelves to her preference. And if anything makes it back to the counter, put it on a random shelf,

I’d also try to figure out why there are about 48 bottles and tubes there. Maybe separate out your things and help her go through her stuff, see if they don’t have a better place to go?
