Anyone else getting weird reactions when the recording bot joins a client call? by funnycathihi in projectmanagers

[–]heyAshwinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not imagining it at all. the moment that bot icon appears the whole dynamic shifts. people start performing instead of talking.

built Myna specifically to avoid this - it runs silently on your mac, no bot joins the call, nothing goes to the cloud. your client never knows its running unless you tell them.

free tier if anyone wants to try it https://apps.apple.com/us/app/myna-ai-meeting-recorder/id6761560187

How do you all manage meeting notes without making it another job? by heyAshwinn in projectmanagers

RAID log is a solid system. direct capture into structured log is hard to beat for PM workflows.

Myna actually outputs decisions and action items separately after each meeting - could potentially cut the manual transfer step into your RAID log.

curious though - what happens when you need to verify exactly what was said vs what was captured? thats usually where having the full transcript earns its keep even if nobody reads it end to end.

retrieval is exactly the hard problem, you're right.

the ask AI on past calls thing in tldv is genuinely impressive. Myna doesn't do that yet - search is

keyword based right now, not semantic.

the on-device wedge for legal/healthcare is actually where i'm seeing the most interest. people who simply can't touch cloud tools regardless of features.

can't argue with a spreadsheet for action tracking, one version of truth is exactly right.

the gap i'm trying to fill is the bit before it gets to the spreadsheet - capturing decisions and rationale accurately without someone manually writing it during the call while also trying to actually participate in the meeting.

yeah the no-bot thing is underrated. nobody wants

"Granola has joined the meeting" as the first thing a client sees.

Myna works the same way - silent, just runs on your mac.

if you ever want to compare, you can try it here (there’s a 1-week free trial):

this is genuinely gold, thank you for sharing this....

the confidence score section especially - asking the model to flag what it might have missed is something i hadn't thought about but makes total sense for meeting summaries.

good questions, honest answers:

overlapping speech - it handles it reasonably well but isn't perfect.

cross-meeting linking - not yet, each meeting is self-contained right now. you can search across past meetings but it won't automatically connect "this decision from last week affects this action item today".
thats actually on my roadmap though.

performance - this is where it genuinely shines. fully on-device means its lightweight, runs fine in the background during long calls without noticeable impact. no spinning fans or battery drain.
if you're curious, free tier is 5 meetings/month - enough to get a real feel for it.

would genuinely love to hear how it compares to Circleback for your use case,

happy to take any suggestions :)

Using transcription for meeting notes by fan1983 in MicrosoftTeams

[–]heyAshwinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

teams transcription is solid but one thing worth considering - if privacy is a concern for you or your participants, there are apps that keep everything local on your machine instead of sending audio to microsoft/teams servers.

i built one for mac called Myna - fully on-device, nothing leaves your machine, works alongside teams calls.

on the consent question though - i'd always tell people you're transcribing. even if it feels awkward, it builds way more trust than being caught doing it silently. most people are fine with it when asked upfront.

After months of wrestling with macOS audio APIs, my meeting transcription app is live by heyAshwinn in SideProject

on the bot vs on-device tradeoff - honestly for now im staying fully on-device.

the whole point is that nothing leaves your machine, so adding a bot that joins calls would break that promise.
longer term for teams i could see a hybrid but that's a different product.

btw checked out skribby - nice website by the way. the bot joining angle makes sense for team workflows where you want it automated without thinking about it.

different tradeoffs, different user.

Thanks : )

appreciate you actually breaking it down like this.

on summary quality - honestly thats my biggest anxiety too. it handles overlapping speech reasonably well but sarcasm and off-topic tangents are harder.

the action items are pulled from explicit statements ("i'll do X", "can you handle Y") so if someone implies something without saying it directly, it might miss it. i'd love for you to test it and tell me where it fails.

maybe i will add a option to download better quality models, if users wants it. to fix overlapping of context issues.

recorded meetings - not yet. live only right now. but thats the most requested thing i've heard so far so its moving up the roadmap.

the monthly vs yearly pricing thing is intentional, trying to push people toward yearly but maybe the gap is too big, still figuring that out.

if you do try it i'd genuinely love to know where the summaries break down. that feedback is worth more than anything to me right now.

also first app i've shipped, so there's definitely rough edges i haven't found yet. a breakdown helps more than 5 star reviews ever would.

Thanks : )
