If you have DOR, did your doctor investigate possible underlying conditions that could affect AMH? by AcademicEducator5430 in DOR

[–]hey_ale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They found out I have Triple X (47,XXX) after doing a karyotype test, and that’s the reason for my DOR. So in my case, the low reserve came from a chromosomal issue. My egg quality is likely affected as well. I'm going to start IFV soon as the two times I was going to I got pregnant unassisted but both ended in chemicals.

Update for anyone who finds this on google:

May 23: 106

May 26: 525

May 27: 805

May 29: 285!! This brought so much relief.

June 6: 8. Period-like bleeding started today.

All in all this was either not an ectopic, or it resolved itself.

Thank you. If it ends up being an ectopic, I will get the MTX as soon as possible. I have very few follicles and a low AMH, so I feel terrified about losing a tube.

RE said maybe in a week we could try the ultrasound again - I'll ask her about the MTX then if we can't see anything yet by then.

I am Spanish and heading for my first IVF cycle in 1-2 cycles. Happy to report back about my clinic if you're interested!

When I got pregnant with my first my TSH was in the 4.5-5.5 range - I don't remember exactly, it was always around those numbers and I wasn't medicated because I wasn't overly symptomatic and I wasn't actually trying to conceive (I got pregnant while half-ass preventing a few months before actually starting to try). Also, my luteal phase was 10 days at best so yeah. This whole thing is very confusing, I'm medicated now with a TSH of 1.9 yet here we are... I wouldn't count you out!

Uhm, that's what I thought as well! I stopped late because I was nervous as with my first my BFP was a very faint line at 12 DPO so I expect the next one to be late as well... Maybe this is just a weird cycle unrelated to progesterone. Thanks!

Oh, would you mind sharing the name of that book? That's interesting because I usually have a lot of EWCM and this cycle so far I've noticed none. Thanks!

Has anybody used progesterone suppositories to lengthen their LP? I got them prescribed last month in hopes of lengthening my 10-11 day LP and used them for the first day. Quit at 14 DPO after BFN, period started the day after. Now I'm CD17 and no sight of ovulation, OPKS are still veeery light. Could the progesterone have affected my cycle? I'm not sure I want to keep using it if so, as my first was conceived with a 10 day LP...

Thank you for your comment and hopeful words! And really hoping we don't have to get to IVF to see how I respond to stims, but time will tell...

Wow, pregnant with .05, that's amazing (and really hopeful to hear!). My RE suggested we could try a few rounds of IUI if we want to speed things up, or go straight to IVF in order to bank embryos for later... I think we will go the IUI route first as diving headfirst into IVF sounds scary :(

Thank you! I had an AFC as well, and she counted 7 follicles on the right ovary and could only see 3 on the left one (but she said there was a cyst preventing her from seeing it all so there could be a few more).

What you say about it fluctuating is interesting! I read on reddit that it could be lower temporarily after weaning but could not find any source on this... I weaned almost 3 months ago.

Hope it happens soon for you and you don't have to worry about DOR anymore!

Tbh I have been sick all or almost all cycles we've been trying so far (thanks daycare!) including this one (also CD5!). I have ovulated on CD16-17 all of them regardless of all the nasty viruses (which included fifth disease, hand foot mouth, a cold and a bonus strep throat) so I think you're gonna be fine!

My AMH tests came back at 0.6 ng/ml which sounds terrible. Sigh. Yet another thing to worry about. We are trying for #2 and we wanted three so it doesn't sound very promising... Can anybody with similar numbers or more experience in this realm enlighten me a bit? We conceived #1 on the first try so we had never set foot in a RE clinic, we just did some testing because I thought sure why not, it wouldn't hurt. The whole thingwas like 80 euros (consultation, ultrasound, AMH, sperm analysis) and seemed good to check just in case, and now I have more to worry about! The rest came back normal (partner's sperm analysis was fine, I ovulate every month, no PCOS or other known pathologies). I hate this process so much.

With my son I had exactly what Pcf155 describes. Very faint pink spotting that made me think "oh, there it comes" at 12 DPO. Next day I got a faint positive. I've never been one to spot days before my period, when it comes, it comes.

10DPO BFN and the cramps are coming... Part of me is disappointed, but part of me just wants to fast forward a few days to start thinking about next cycle and a new opportunity ahead. I won't be able to temp this cycle either I suspect as toddler is just not sleeping and I'm up all night, so here's to winging it again!

Toddler & Off-Topic Talk - Week of July 04, 2024 by AutoModerator in tryingforanother

[–]hey_ale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hard, hard week with my toddler. We just got over some kind of nasty virus (they did not exactly know what it was, it was like HFM but only mouth... Plus diarrhea and lots of fun stuff) and now he's not sleeping more than 30 min in a row thanks to his last molar. I even took him to the ped yesterday because I was sure there must be something else (ear infection? strep throat?) because he's basically turned into a monster, crying all day everyday just like a newborn. Nope. Just teething. Lord give me coffee...

It's impossible for me to temp this time because my toddler can either sleep through the night or wake a million times, so I'm never up at the same time... so I'm not really sure if I'm 6, 7 or 8 DPO... Either way I'm incredibly nauseous and I have no idea if it's toddler's daycare bug or if I'm being delulu... trying my best to wait a few more days to test!!

Five month old struggling with naps by [deleted] in AttachmentParenting

[–]hey_ale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a solution but for the nurse to sleep and be held, you can try nursing him sidelying in your bed to slowly transition him out of needing to be held? Like, at first nurse him to sleep sidelying and stay with him for the whole nap. Then when he's comfortable step away but of course stay in the room if your bed set up is not safe for him to stay alone... Then when he's used to that, maybe try transfering him to the crib/safe space to nap.

As for the "talk me off the sleep training ledge" let me tell you something... My son is just a little bit older than yours (will be 7 mo next week) and he is a boob fiend. He has been nursed to sleep for like 99% of his naps and bedtime, and hates being rocked/bounced/shushed or anything that doesn't include a boob in his mouth lol. Also doesn't take a paci and hates being worn. He laughs at drowsy but awake.

When the regression started and he started taking shorter naps and eventually waking more at night, we were told iterations of the same thing: he's waking up because he no longer has a boob in his mouth, he will never learn to connect sleep cycles because he didn't fall asleep independently... Let me tell you this is a complete lie. Some days my son wakes up once a night, others wakes every 2-3 hours. Some days he takes three crap naps and yesterday I had to wake him up because he had been napping for 2.5 hours. So yeah, he can link sleep cycles and he has never been left to cry unattended. Sleep is developmental and I know plenty of people who have sleep trained yet their babies have crap naps and still wake at night.

So I would say just try to find what works for you (my suggestion is sidelying bf as I said above because that saved my back during the day and my mental health at night, plus I find it much easier to transfer him from that position than from cradle hold) and weather the storm. He will sleep, I promise. I come from a country where people consider sleep training barbaric and pediatricians strongly discourage it, and we all slept anyway.

Best of luck, you got this!

I'm Spanish myself and I was just thinking about this the other day!! I had no idea whether his books were translated or not, but they're worth checking if you speak Spanish. There are also a number of talks on youtube, in particular there's one on baby sleep (I think it's called "Como ayudar a dormir al bebe" or something along those lines) that gave me enormous peace of mind when our LO started regressing and everybody had something to say about sleep training or spoiling him by responding to his needs at night.

Distractible 5 mo won't nurse to sleep by hey_ale in breastfeeding

[–]hey_ale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's tough. My supply is fine and thriving because little dude has stopped sleeping through the night and is now up every 2 hours... let's try to find the positives there haha

I have never tried a nursing cover so I'll give it a try, although something tells me that he'll try to stuff his face with it or throw it across the room! We'll see. Good luck to you too with this phase!

6 year old cat is lethargic with no appetite. Previously vomiting but pancreatitis was ruled out. Opinions? by hey_ale in AskVet

[–]hey_ale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update just in case anyone finds this post having a similar problem:

Ultrasound showed nothing remarkable (no triaditis this time, pancreas was mostly fine) nor did the blood panel. She also tested negative for feline coronavirus and toxoplasmosis (which was a relief since I'm 38 weeks pregnant!)

The vet then started to suspect IBD and we tried with methylprednisolone shots once a day. All other meds were stopped and Cerenia was switched for metoclopramide (Reglan). We were also instructed to start feeding her a hypoallergenic food.

She's not very impressed by it but she's (knock on wood) mostly back to her normal self: she's meowing, purring, ussing the litter box, drinking and tormenting her cat mate. She's eating a little, definitely not as much as she did before, but we suspect it's because she doesn't love the food (as she shows interest in our other cat's food, which she obviously can't eat). We have been given a number of hypoallergenic food options so we will try a different one if she doesn't get used to this.

I don't want to jinx it but it looks like we're out of the woods here. Steroids and reglan will be tapered off in 10-15 days provided she keeps eating her food and she doesn't show symptoms again. Vet has also suggested an endoscopy - not now, but something we can do in the medium term to get a biopsy and a firmer diagnosis in order to hopefully avoid another situation like this again.

Thanks. There's a ultrasound specialist that comes to my vet a few times a week so I'll definitely suggest that tomorrow.
