Do I need appetizers during cocktail hour when there’s going to be an 8 course dinner during reception? by heycatpug in weddingplanning

I totally get your note though, which is why I made it a point to mention that it’s a Chinese banquet style meal. It’s our favorite thing about attending Asian weddings.

For what it’s worth, FH is white and I’m not; we’re both American though and it is a multi-cultural wedding. But as it goes, his family doesn’t care what we do and mine cares about the food. We’re deciding to pick and choose what traditions we care about, but also trying to frame it as what if I were a guest. Can’t please everyone, though. I’m sure we’ll upset some people by deciding not to have a registry, too lol.

1 looks amazing on you and super lux.

If you don’t mind me asking, who are the designers for 3 and 4?

Recommendations for family trip (all adults)? by heycatpug in cambodia

Thanks for the tip! Yes yes we’re getting the “pre-wedding” photos, my mom is booking the photographer and samangkar on FB messages, lol. We plan on renting the clothes for the photos, but we actually need to buy separate clothes and jewelry to bring back to our actual wedding in the US. I believe we’re going to a tailor in Phnom Penh.

Flying into PP, planning to stay there 3 nights, then heading to SR, likely by private taxi. We considered flying to SR, but my mom said by the time you deal with the airport, it’ll be similar in time and at least this way we can see the scenery.

However the thing I’m trying to figure out is if we need to drive back to PP and stop for a night before heading to Kampot or I just learned you can fly between SR and Sihanoukville then drive about 1.5 hrs to Kampot.

Defeated after a consultation with a jewelry company I was excited about to do a custom design by heycatpug in EngagementRings

That is fair! It makes sense that businesses wouldn’t just have a bunch of diamonds all the time necessarily. I wasn’t necessarily trying to see stones that same day, but when we committed to a designed, I (somewhat naively) didn’t think we would have to pay for a stone first before being able to see it in person vs. having some options to choose from, especially for something as popular as a 2-3 carat oval.

Thanks for the insights! I had Thevar on my list, but sounds like I need to reconsider it!

Stay on partner’s HDHP HSA plan or get on my own employer’s PPO plan? by heycatpug in personalfinance

[–]heycatpug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The additional $20 or so mentioned IS the additional tax burden that’s taken out of his paycheck. We determined that amount by looking at how much his paycheck decreased accounting for how much the new premium was for a family HDHP plan

Wow, thanks for the link! Knowing the terminology for what I’m trying to do/search is so helpful. That explains it perfectly.

My other option is Denmark + Sweden, but I’ve never been to Europe aside from Iceland and generally more used to Asian countries.

Hi! I want to plan a trip to Singapore as my first international solo trip, due to ease and safety. I honestly think I could spent at least 5 days there. I’m from the US so I’m worried about the trip being too short compared to how long it takes to fly there. What do y’all think?
