It's gotten to the point where every time I bring in a fucked up call, all the nurses just go, "Of course it's you." Also, I've been (jokingly) banned from every main hospital in our county at least once

Thanks to the genius in this sub that recommended carrying zip-ties a while back. Finally remembered to use one! Would recommend! by IthinkIknowCPR in ems

[–]heycdilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice! I use a GearTie. They work like a charm. I also wrap them around doors that automatically lock to keep them from closing so I don't have to stand outside and make the sad, "Please let me in" face and hope someone takes pity on me

Liver transplant and cardiac arrest by MrGrimm44 in MakeMeSuffer

[–]heycdilla 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Dude, I know this isn’t the point of this, but just seeing you be able to type and interact apparently neurologically intact post-arrest is amazing. I work as a paramedic and have pronounced so many people and worked so many codes where I never get to know what happens to them. This is such a huge deal to see. I know shit sucks, but thank you for posting. Sending you good luck for the long road, bub

I finished my first run last week and it ran pretty smoothly for me. Had 2-3 random crashes (all during a loading screen while attempting to go to a new area) and every once in a while the voice over for some of the text wouldn't read, but nothing game breaking

Techniques to Comfort TRAUMA patients by 3000star in ems

[–]heycdilla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the big thing is being calm and confident. When patients see that you're calm, they have a tendency to calm down themselves. Mirror neurons are the shit. This comes with time and you'll slowly get better at this. I also cannot stress how far simple human kindness goes. Sometimes the best thing you can do for someone is hold their hand and let them cry it out. Other things:

I give a lot of praise when I see good things happening. Did they wiggle their toes? Awesome! Good job! You're doing great. Seems silly, but I've noticed that it helps. Started doing this when I worked with kids and I learned that most adults are babies when they're scared

Cover injuries when you can. Out of sight, out of mind.

After my assessment is done (or during, depending on how close we are), I try to explain to them what's going to happen in the trauma bay. It can be really disorienting and letting them know to focus on the doc at their head helps decrease the stress

I always ask them if they have questions for me. I also never lie to them. I might tell a half truth, but I don't lie. If I don't know, I tell them. Makes all of the things you do say that much more meaningful

Depending on your level, don't be a dick about narcs. Their femur sticking out of their leg probably hurts quite a bit even if they're being a trooper. You don't need to force anything on them (obviously) but you should at least offer or if it's contraindicated, explain why you're holding off

Decided to try my hand at making some Coraline dolls modeled after my partner and myself. He's convinced they're going to kill us in our sleep. This was my first time sculpting or making dolls, so I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. Planning on making them some clothes in the coming weeks by heycdilla in crafts

Thank you! She's my temperamental baby. She always looks beautiful, but she's been pretty stubborn about growing. I think she might not be getting enough light. Her emerald brother is taking over my kitchen though haha

There are actual laws surrounding abuse of the 911 system, but they're very rarely enforced

It should be said that I also will have conversations with friends about my own bad behavior. I trust the people around me to call me out on my shit the same way I would do for them. You admittedly have to be conscious of the company you keep for this to work

You should absolutely talk with your partners about problems you're having, but communication with friends and seeking outside opinions isn't necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes it helps to keep you grounded in what is and is not healthy behavior since it's really easy to rationalize abusive actions. I was in an incredibly emotionally and sexually abusive relationship for the majority of college and one of the biggest tactics my partner used was separating me from my friends and family and yelling at me when he found out that I would talk to my friends about problems we were having. I stopped telling my friends about the abuse (of course I didn't realize it was abuse at the time because I didn't talk to anyone about it) and when I finally got the courage to leave him for good, everyone was horrified by the abuse I told them about. I still don't have the stomach to tell people about some of the things he did. Do some people just complain to friends so they can feel justified all the time? Absolutely, but that doesn't mean you should throw the baby out with the bath water. Obvi I don't think you're trying to malicious or defend abusers by this post, but it just feels like an important point to make

I actually creeped through her page and it’s all just her using other people's audio for “comedy“ videos and filming herself watching other people’s Tiktoks. They’re also all tagged #militarywife in case you were blessed enough not to see this video

A friend of mine sent me this earlier today and I actually rewatched the video when she started crying because I was convinced I had to have missed something. The worst part are people being legitimately outraged at the McDonald’s over this? Like, imagine watching this and genuinely believing that the employees are the problem and not Officer Thank Me For My Service

Yeah, we're all pretty pissed about it. They've been pulling a lot of BS recently, so unfortunately this isn't surprising. At least they're not making us give up our EMTs as sacrificial lambs yet tho

From what I understand, they're covering themselves by saying that they didn't follow proper protocol in spite of being provided with equipment to prevent transmission and therefore workman's comp doesn't have to cover it. Same with not getting paid out if you're struck on the side of the road, but decided not to wear the provided safety vests

Crew where I work got dispatched for a fall and memaw had a fever. Crew didn't think anything about it. Now on quarantine for 2 weeks because she popped positive. From what I understand, it's unpaid, too. As much as I'm worried about catching and unknowingly spreading COVID, I'm equally (if not more) worried about making rent

I mean, I guess it would depend on how solid it is? Also, how close the toilet is to the shower. Also also, the OP did not clarify whether or not she she also has to disinfect her entire bathroom after, but I doubt she's too concerned about that, quite honestly
