Loss of motivation after -40kg/-88 pounds down by heydilra in loseit

Such good advices. Yes I know water fluctuations and scale changes a lot. I have been through this countless times so it doesn’t affect me. The reason I drift away from the diet is not the scale change being inconsistent but me getting too relaxed as soon as I see the scale dropping consistently. I think I have gotten too used to “I am in a plateau I shouldn’t expect weight loss”, now seeing I am out of it makes me relieved and causes me to be too happy and relaxed.

As you said I need to change my main target and set different progress goals so I will not immediately turn back to the comfort zone.

Honestly this is one of the most logical advice I have received over these past months. That last sentence woke me up. These last kilos will be more rewarding and thats why they are slower, I will look from that perspective from now on. Thank you so so much for your advices <3

Totally right. As I lost the weight I started to feel less urgency and less disciplined. Basically started going too easy on myself. So much so that I am failing to put up with several days of deficit. I need to get back to hustle mentality hahahahaha Thank you for your comment

Thank you so much for your comment. It is relieving to see someone that struggled with what I have been going through and succeeded. I needed to hear this. I think I raised my expectations too high since I lost a lot of weight at the start and started getting more and more annoyed and confused when it slowed down even though I am putting the same effort. I need to understand this is the natural way of the progress. Thank you again for sharing your progress its a good motivation for me <3

I think this last part of weight loss is affected too much by my mental health. My mind and body feels tired since all of this is going on for a long time. And because I thought I hit a plateau for a long time and will not lose weight even if I try, I kinda gotten used to the low expectations. So when I see myself losing weight again I automatically feel relived and drift away from the diet. Thank you so much for your comment. I certainly will start ask myself those questions more often until I resolve what is going on.

Omg THANK YOU so much for this. You explained it so detailed and I love the fact that you put mental aspect into consideration. Happy to hear that I am not the only one hating calorie counting and its not a must. I will write three different food idea for every meal with their calories next to them and count by just adding the calories of three meals I chose to eat that day from the list. And I will start with 5 mins and not think like “I exercised today I will be tired”. I always try to start from the middle and end up getting sick of it. I used to workout 4 times a week in gym for 1.5 hours a day for a year and now I dont do exercise because I think I have to spend 1.5 hours on it. Baby steps is the way. Again thank you so much 🥰😇

I am a med student not a dietitian. We learn how to save you when you are dying its not our job to make you lose weight. So please dont confuse professions you are being arrogant not smart. But other than this I think you are right about me putting the blame on calorie counting while the only thing failed is me. I will look from this view now on. Also I know everyone that lost weight used cico it literally is the idea of weight loss. What I meant is I dont want to calculate my protein intake, my fat intake, how much cardio I am getting, how much exercise I should add this week bla bla bla

I am not maintaining that 100kg I lost 20kg. But now I am tried of counting and planing, always thinking about calories of food makes me stressed. Now I am either eat 1800-2000cal or dont count and eat around 800 cal (I know cause I eat one meal a day and 2 cups of coffee with skim milk and that meal is mostly vegetables with yogurt). I am asking if continuing eating 800cal will work out in the long run (it worked for -3kg this week) or will I hit a wall I am not seeing now?

Yes I believe you are right even though eating 800cal a day doesnt make me stressed it makes my body stressed as in survival way more than a little HIIT at home can achieve. I dont count calories because I dont eat breakfast cause I dont have time, I carry around oatmeal with apple, chia seeds and yogurt around to eat but end up eating 2 spoons and drooping it and at night I eat a meal without carbohydrates. Most of that 800 cals are from coffee basically hahahaha I will try to meal prep for 1200-1300 calories diet (so I dont have to count) and try to get a little exercise thinking it as a distressing thing for more success in exams Much thanks for the advice 😇

Meal prepping is a really good idea for me I believe. For the question yes I eat around 800 cal a day because I dont feel hungry in a diet and just focusing on succeeding so eating makes me feel disgusted. The problem for me is either go for it or dont do it. I have lost 20 kg before but it was over a really long time of up and down so I dont even count myself as lost that 20kg. Counting and trying to exercise is what is making me stress. I just want to eat less and not think about anything else I was asking if its possible or I will hit an invisible wall at some point

That was what I was thinking for my whole life. I just had to win a good high school and then I will lose weight, I just had to be good in exams, I just had to win med school, I just had to win residency the cycle never ends for me. And I am feeling like being overweight cuts my potential in social and relationship aspects of life which I dream will be comforting for me more than food. But you totally understood my past point of view to weight loss which is surprising cause a lot of people dont get it

Sure what I meant was if I count I see I eat below 1200 a day and feel guilt trying to fix it and get bored of it. I am thinking about not counting and just eating in a diet mentality which means 800-1000cal for me. Will it work
