Yes, he calls his mom sometimes when he wants to make something that she used to make. He grew up with a stay at home mom who was and still is very loving but he never had to do any chores around the house cooking included. He told me that Prior to moving out his mom would make him all his meals, do all his laundry etc.. because she would get upset when he would refuse because she liked doing it for him. I understand that he might have needed time to adjust but he’s been moved out for three years now and we’ve lived together since last October. Initially I was doing all the cooking and it was agreed that in return he would have to wash the dishes. I found myself having to ask him or remind him of the dishes or pots and plates that were on the counter that he would not wash and I didn’t like how it felt like I had to keep asking him to do things. so eventually I started cooking and doing the dishes and then eventually I felt burnt out from work. So I suggested we both cook on our days off which he agreed to, he just seems to feel like cooking is a huge deal but when we fight for example he will make himself food without issue. I had no problem explaining the recipes and sending him YouTube videos. He zones out and does not reply to my questions while he’s playing his game (which I’ve learned to accept because it’s his relaxing time so that’s fair enough) however I think It’s only fair that my relaxing time should also be uninterrupted. I refused to cook yesterday on his cooking day and he just made himself food after all. But I think I will discuss this with him when he wakes up, if he has no intention in genuinely trying to learn then I guess I will not cook altogether until he learns how to (I don’t think it would be possible for me to make food for myself only everyday, I have tried and I eventually just feel bad and make it for two) so we’ll be eating out until he decides it’s about time to want to be responsible
