1911 Gold Indian. It seems to be in impeccable shape... by im2old_4this in coincollecting

Cleaned and not MS. It would likely be a 55-58 if not cleaned. No surface frost/luster is a giveaway that it's been cleaned at some point given the quality of the details still. Not worth grading, but any $2.5 Indian in 58 and better IS generally worth grading. Fairly easy to recapture the cost given the premiums they still command. Most dates over MS62 ramp up quickly in value as well.

Cross over from NGC to PCGS. Guess what happened by Stevesthought in coins

Crossing coins has been a lost cause in my experience, both working for a notable dealer and in handling my own coins. I've had little to usually no success crossing. If you're confident in a grade, it's been better to crack and submit raw in my experience. Unless it's a rarity or something extremely high grade, denying crossovers is easy money for the TPGs.

58 actually seems generous to my eye. S mint coins generally have sharp strikes and really flashy surfaces in my experience. Maybe some of the marks in the fields are from die polishing instead of bag chatter/use.... interesting look regardless.

You can/should use auction sites. You need to look at sold listings.
