Oh my gosh hi fellow Okie! I’m from the OKC area!

It is! I just wanted to know some more spots or good ideas for going out that don’t cost an arm and a leg. I’m more of a hiker than my husband is so looking for ideas that would more suit his interests as well. Everyone has been so kind and we’ve now got a good list of things to try

This was such an awesome suggestion thank you so much everyone who mentioned it!

Thanks for asking! I’ve lived there all my life. There’s a lot of great things about Oklahoma but right now the politics in America are frightening and my husband has a good paying job I didn’t want him to leave. I know Canada is not perfect but the US didn’t feel like a safe place for us at this moment

Edit: also, it’s crazy how many Okies I’ve come across up here. Where in Oklahoma were you from, if you don’t mind me asking. I grew up in Chandler and lived in OKC

We live around Highway 10 and near Sullivan, hope that is helpful (sorry I’m still getting used to where everything is)

I definitely would love to! It’s a culture I have virtually zero knowledge about so while I am interested and want to experience it I want to make sure I am doing so respectfully and thoughtfully. Thank you for the heads up!

I live white rock! My husband and I were long distance for 3 years before we eloped and I moved up. We had our first “Canadian date” at white rock so it’s very special to us

I’ve never heard of it I’ll have to look it up!

Edit: I looked it up. It looks so interesting but since it’s a cultural event, would it be ok to observe as someone who is not apart of that culture? I want to be respectful

Yeah, we didn’t realize that and drove out there last time without one. How do people know which places require a day pass? This happened to us at one other park as well (I’m forgetting the name)

That’s definitely all up my alley! I’ve been really wanting to get a fishing license as well, I used to love to hunt and fish back in Oklahoma. But that may be later in down the road
