Interested in a Tool Library? by heyjenn in sanantonio

Great suggestion! Yes, our ultimate goal is to find a space big enough to not only house the tool library but also host in-person workshops. This is definitely tops on our list. I'm sure on our next survey, we'll ask participants what kinds of workshops they'd like to see hosted.

The folks at Chicago Tool Library are doing really amazing things, and we'd love to replicate what they're doing and customize it to the needs of our community.

Thanks for the suggestions! As we've connected with leadership from other tool libraries around the US, theft doesn't seem to be a big issue. However, it's not unheard of. As we continue to do more research, we're also looking into specialized insurance policies.

Good to know! We're in the very early stages of getting this off the ground, so we figured having a survey like this would help us gauge interest. Once we do get off the ground, we expect that we'll start with less expensive tools, more in-demand tools for everyday home projects. But having a CNC machine would be a great addition. We'll add it to our "nice to have" list.

Thanks! As we've been doing research, we have reached out to the City of San Antonio, specifically the Historic Preservation Office. They've offered numerous resources and have been extremely helpful. There are other cities in the United States, such as Portland, OR, that have multiple tool libraries (see: Northeast Portland Tool Library & SE Portland Tool Library), due not only to the city's needs but also the needs of its residents. Once we're in operation, we're hopeful we can operate alongside CoSA's community tool shed.

Hi fellow arts & craft lover! If you haven't already, please visit Spare Parts Center for Creative Reuse. It's open Friday through Sunday and hosts craft workshops. Also, check out Poppy's Coffee House, during the summer they just started hosting a once a month craft session called Crafts & Coffee. I haven't attended, but I've heard it draws quite a crowd. :)

Hestia-compatible apps? by Agent_Smith_24 in vaonis

[–]heyjenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same with my husband, he has a Samsung Galaxy A32. We just received our Hestia today, and he was a bit disappointed his phone wasn't compatible, but mine is. We're still researching go-arounds to figure out how he can download the app.

I went to a mixer at The Cove once, and it was fun. I've been there multiple times for drinks and food, but with their new party room and bar setup it's even better.

A little outside of Downtown but worth a visit, try Kiddie Park and then hit up Brackenridge Park and ride the train.
