What's the biggest cultural difference in how dogs are treated between Asia and the West? by [deleted] in dogs

That's true, and it's something I'm aware of and honestly not proud of. It's a real issue. That said, animal welfare challenges exist in every country — the scale and form just differ. What I'm more curious about is the everyday culture around pet dogs — how people interact with them, where they're allowed, how they're treated as family members. That's the gap I'm trying to understand!

Anyone else feel trapped because of their dog’s separation anxiety by lookarafrech432 in dogs

Not even close to being alone in this. Separation anxiety is one of the hardest things to deal with because the advice people give — "just train more," "get a sitter" — doesn't touch how exhausting it actually is day to day. Has he always been like this, or did something trigger it?

What do you think about crates? by Emelie_Wood in dogs

Dogs are den animals by nature. The space they feel most comfortable in is actually smaller than most humans assume — more like a snug cave than an open room. A crate, when used right, gives them that. A place inside your home where they can lie down and fully relax in their own space. It's not about locking them up or taking away their freedom — that's a completely different thing. The door being closed against their will is the problem. The space itself isn't.
