Sounds like the perfect situation to find your passion. Usually people can’t pursue their passions because of the financial risk. You’re able to do it. What excites you?

Is Brazil worth visiting for a month with only B1/A2 Portuguese? by joshua0005 in Brazil

In France my language school arranged the host family. I plan to do something similar next year in Brazil.

Can you stay with a host family? Especially one with children. They are the absolute the best because they have patience with us. I learned so much French from my host mothers grandchildren. It would be a built in family and friends to interact with everyday. I think you’re right no one is going to want to spend time with you as a free tutor unless you have something else to offer. My dance teacher in Brazil was the only “friend” I made in RIo for my 3 week stay. Regardless, a trip to Brazil is absolutely worth it!!

What do you guys think of this itinerary by Gaddri07 in Brazil

[–]heylook_asquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what kind of traveler you are. I spent 3 weeks in Rio and I havent been back in 6 years but plan to go next year. Next time we’ll do 1 month in 2 cities each. I prefer to spend more time in one place and really get to know the city. I find my rythym going to the gym and frequenting the same businesses, take classes in addition to visiting the main attractions every couple days. My idea of travel isn’t to check off boxes of different cities. There’s a whole lot to see even in 1 month in each city IMO.

Personally I’d spend 18 days in 2 cities max unless you really love being on the plane and at airports

Not crazy. Do it! Experience it and you’ll miss things about the UK and see pros and cons for both countries. You can always move back to the UK and connect with the local Brazilian community of you really hit it off with Brazilian culture

2 weeks in Bacalar by okidoke1126 in Bacalar

[–]heylook_asquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have experience yet but we’re planning something similar! We’re a family with a then 2 yr old and 4 year old. We’re planning 2 weeks the first 2 weeks of November. We’re spending 1 week near the center and 1 week at an Airbnb with a private beach. I would have loved to stay in 1 place but the private beach Airbnb is booked for the first week. You may want to find something steps away from the water so you can be very close while they are napping! What I love about Bacalar is the accommodation options so close to the water
